Other than an extra set of Kill Bill 1 & 2, I opened all, my collection is small though

I like to feel the SB "naked" ...

Cheers,

I open all of my steelbooks. I want to check out the case's interior artwork, disc label artwork, any booklets that may be included and, of course, watch the movie if its compatible with my region. If ever I got my hands on a I Am Legend or John Rambo I would tear off that wrapping in a second.

You only say this because you never held a sealed IAL or JR in your hands.
At the price they are fletching for sealed you wouldn't.

Cheers,
Gui.

Imagine you running your fingers over the SB bodies... the French ones are smooth and glossy, the German ones have a little texture...

I opened all of them!

I only buy them through GBs and that's only if I see an advantage to them (better PQ/AQ, 2-in-1 space saver, uncut, DC, etc).

As BDs and SBs in particular are expensive, I don't see a reason (at least for me) to buy a movie twice to watch it.

NEVER... I only by the steelbooks as a collector.

I buy the movies later on down the road used for $10 or so, or in a boxset if I wait long enough.

I voted some.

When I got my first SB, Iron Man FS, I still didn't realize the trading value that these babies hold, espescially the sealed ones, so I opened it up, along with Indy 4.

Now that I'm better educated, thanks to our vocal OCD's , I keep the opening to a bare minimum. The last Steels that I carefully unwrapped were:

Watchmen b/c I had a hunch that the market would be flooded with them.
Highlander & Crouching tiger b/c I wanted to watch them, and they're not available in Canada, so what the hell!
A whack of MM SB's from Amazon.de last mth because they were either damaged or re-sealed! (like I wouldn't notice this Amazon.. tsk, tsk)

I do however always get a second, sealed copy of my opened Steels (with the exception of John Rambo, I've still avoided that) just so I feel better about myself.. lol

For the record - Tiger, Crash, I hate you guys! Today my Pulp Fiction and Kill Bills were finally handed to me and I found myself wondering 'do I really want to unseal those SBs?' I mean, wtf guys?

Btw, I did unseal them. Initially it hurt me, but then, the feel of the 'naked' Steelbook made it all worth while

I am so disappointed as I could feel your presence on the dark side, although only for a fleeting moment. I will have to try harder next time

Your a Jedi master, the force is strong with you. Your hearth is pure you might don't get trapped on the dark side.

Cheers,
Gui.

If I bought them at the prices that they are going for now, you're right, I probably wouldn't open them. But then, if I did pay that much I would have bought them for a different reason. And that, would be to hold on to them and *maybe* they would appreciate in value for a possible profitable resale in the future.

However, If I got one of those when they were first released, I would have

I'm about 50/50 on opening. Since i'm on a limited budget and can't really afford to buy doubles of every steelbook or even an amaray of each. So most of the time i just open the steel. IF i ever get Rambo, i doubt i'd open it. I still kick myself when i think about it because i had a group buy with Pinoy who dumped it and i never reordered.

If I buy with the intention of watching the movie and keeping it in my collection then I'll open up the shrink wrap. If I buy with the intention of potentially selling the movie down the line then of course you want to keep it sealed and preserve as much value as possible.

A beauty indeed.

"The One", are you watching?
