Excellent news about the 1st movie getting remastered.

WB's current BD has a pretty shoddy transfer.

Yay! I'll pick up Part 2 sometime down the line... already own part 1 and unless it's an AMAZING upgrade feel no reason to double dip.

Since it sounds like this will be a remastered version and hopefully done right I will buy this new edition.

It would have been nice if thy gave this the Digibook treatment, and included both films with it. That would seem fitting for this movie I feel. Oh well

True, though I believe that was from Miramax. I wonder who has the rights now?

The third one (Escape From Fantasia) is owned by Miramax (and who knows who has home video rights to that now).

Also, someone inform Wolfgang Petersen about this!

A new transfer makes the first one an instant double dip. Fingers crossed it happens.

What's their to cross fingers about? Warner said it's newly remastered. They wouldn't say it if it was just a re-hash of the old release.

Great to hear on the remaster - I know there was a lot of controversy on the first release.

Maybe this is a sign Warner is going to start tackling more of their earlier catalog titles?

Awesome I never got the original release because of how bad people said it was. What special features will there be do you think?

Very glad something like this didn't happen since the second movie sucked.

I was thinking more like what Sony is doing for Ghostbusters. Individual releases for both movies, but also a Digibook with both.

In fairness they've already tackled a lot of their crappy older catalogue transfers already like Enter The Dragon, The Fugitive etc.
