Default Region Free Bonus Features

I'm looking into getting the Superman Anthology blu ray set, and have a question. if you have a region free blu ray set, will you be able to watch the bonus features ? They're not in PAL or anything, are they ?

I'm talking about this set in particular and region free blu-rays in general.

If it's released by the studios (Warner, Fox, MGM, Disney, etc.) then special features should be fine.

I've never had a problem with any of the special features on my region B locked discs...

that's good to know. I need to get the blu ray set after trying to watch my dvd set last night and finding the the discs were somehow damaged and wouldn't play properly. I would much rather get the UK set for 20 dollars instead of the us set for 80.

The PAL/NTSC distinction doesn't exist for HD, so if the bonus features are HD, it's fine. If the bonus features are standard def, they'll probably be PAL.

As long as you have an all-region Blu-ray player, you'll be fine. You can get one for under $100, so there's no reason not to have one. Going region free was a great investment for me, because I can get a lot of titles on Blu-ray that are available only on DVD domestically, often for less than the cost of the domestic DVDs.

Does anyone here have the UK Superman set and can let me know for sure ?

You have nothing to worry about for region free releases from US major studios. Archival, SD extras, are encoded in 480i/60 but (usually) in a 1080p container (but still in SD). Even Euro releases, that weren't released in the US by the studios themselves, such as "12 Angry Men" and "The Thin Red Line" have the extras perfectly playable on US players.

Spot - I have a region-free player, so I can't be sure. I have heard things about people importing discs and being able to watch the movie but not the extras, but I would defer to yan if he says that doesn't happen with region-free releases by studios. He knows what he's talking about.

Which set are you referring to? I have this one and it plays just fine.

Warner Bros doesn't Region Lock there discs and so anything released by them worldwide will be playable on American based players. Because they just re-use the same discs around the world this also means all the special features will play fine.

Anything from a big studio like Sony/Paramount/Warner etc will be playable worldwide, you will normally only find 50hz content on releases from countries where that content originated from (ie Doctor Who is 1080i/50hz on BD in the UK)
