Default Still waiting on this approval for the Blu-ray database`

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-A...Blu-ray/28318/

Correcting this double feature to show titles and some additional info.

Other things I added afterwards as DVDs or blu-rays have gotten approval so this one might have just slipped through the cracks (server forgot to notify or something)

Oh, also waiting on the approval to change the master movie ID on this film to allow it to show its double feature status.

How do you check pending changes or do you just have to manually keep track?

Go to the My Blu-ray.com menu at the upper right and click My Profile just under it.

Then in the lower menu across the page that starts with your username - MOVIES - STATS... etc, at the end click MORE and then Pending Contributions.

Then bookmark that thing so you don't have to dig for it every time.

You'll also find useful Contribution History and Achievements in the menu (where you can see the total pending submissions which are not totaled on the Pending Contributions page... go figure.)

I submitted a DVD about 5 days ago and found this thread as I couldn't locate evidence of my submission. I've checked in the 'pending contributions' section and there was nothing there. So I submitted the DVD again and there's still nothing there. What am I doing wrong? I've made dozens of submissions before and never had an issue.

The only thing I can think of is I clicked on 'add title' from a blu-ray page and not from a DVD page but can't imagine this makes a difference.

New titles don't show up in the pending list. They only show in the Contribution History once processed. It can take a few days sometimes.

Changes, to existing items, do show up in pending and sometimes get processed within a day and some times takes forever, if ever.

On April 11, I'm coming up on my 1 year anniversary of my oldest pending submission (out of 37). Do I win a prize?

You might well do.

I don't understand why some submissions get approved within hours and others linger for ages/forever.

What gives?

From what I understand reviewed titles get assigned to that reviewer since they expect that the reviewer is more familiar to discern a correct change from an incorrect one. Of course if it needs changing the reviewer didn't fix it before so...

This seems to create a situation where some reviewers are not around or just don't pay attention. There may be other categorization that assigns different genres to people who are more familiar.

At least that's how it was explained to me at one point. I've proposed they modify the system if possible to expire those assignments after a time and push them to the group so submissions don't sit forever, but I've never heard any feedback on whether they were thinking on improvements or not.

If that's the thinking from the site side, it's an interesting idea but I think the premise is a bit flawed. For example, I like to submit a lot of technical information that I personally like to look at when comparing releases from different countries and making buying decisions, such as the video bitrate. The video bitrate and the audio quality are often overlooked fields (and the audio fields are always a hassle because there's so many missing audio choices), so I'm trying to submit as many as I can with every purchase I make, to help others who also care about that information. Anyway, the point I wanted to make is that I'm sure some reviewers don't have the setup to check this information, and if they did, are they really going to load up the disc and go through the hassle to double check that I put in the correct information? This type of information in particular (but in some cases really any information) shouldn't need much oversight when you have a member with a long history of providing accurate information. Overall though, clearly we can see that if this is indeed the system in place for submissions of any kind, it could cause issues with reviewers who are not active.

Of my current (very modest) backlog of 17 submissions (concerning 13 different titles), dating back to Oct 31, 2020, 6 of those titles all have reviews by Dr. Svet Atanasov, while the rest don't have reviews.

Meanwhile, 3 submissions that I made in the last few hours have already all gone through.

^ I did reply to this in that thread by the way (not yet addressed), but I am quoting you here in the hopes that you could give us some insights on this issue.

The bottom line is, the more information in Blu-ray.com's database, the more helpful it is to visitors, the more likely people browsing the site are going to make purchases and earn affiliate revenue for you. And the more timely that updates go through, the more motivated contributors are going to be to continue making submissions.

There may be more to the process or inaccuracies in what I've stated. It's all just hearsay from what I've been told by others, so who knows? Without staff speaking up, we're always just left wondering.

I'm up to 52 pending now and Sunday is my 1 year Pendiversary for my eldest submission.

Coincidentally, both of my longstanding pendings have reviews by the same reviewer!

I still have the two contributions that I mentioned up thread as well as some newer ones that have ot moved.

Surely there is some way to notify other staff members when a contribution hasn't been processed after a certain time period?

Heh, I've had some pending since October. I wonder if they just somehow slip through the cracks.

It seems to be down to the reviewer. All my pending submissions are for films reviewed by the same person.

This is why I'm suggesting the submission gets flagged to other staff members/reviewers after a certain time so that the submissions don't just get ignored by a reviewer who can't be bothered to process them.

After all, we are all trying to improve the quality of the database.

I've got plenty of submissions relating to releases that haven't been reviewed, and the info is verifable by the back cover, unboxings, or official packaging shots.
https://www.blu-ray.com/community/to...action=pending

Examples:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Softe...lu-ray/153144/ (Back cover shows TV-MA, English subtitles, and Japanese 2.0 DTS-HD MA)
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Space...lu-ray/214278/ (Back cover shows correct UPC. The current UPC is from the cancelled SD Blu-ray release.)
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Aria-...lu-ray/172336/ (Back cover shows English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 and Japanese Dolby TrueHD 2.0)
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-A...lu-ray/218982/ (Back cover shows TV-14. NEVER trust Amazon with ratings for anime releases, nearly every single anime release ever has an age rating on the back, it's the equivalent of saying video games are "Not rated". The only company that doesn't do them is Discotek Media. /rant)

Last edited by BigOnAnime; 05-12-2021 at 05:37 AM. Reason: Forget Softenni! was TV-MA, not TV-14...
