I’ve looked around here, but haven’t found any rules about what Cover or Packaging images are allowed.
There’s a new release for The Brown Bunny BD and the cover image shows a sex act. The image was shared in the discussion thread for the release, but moderators immediately deleted it. If we censor the image ourself, can we then upload the Cover on the release page? I’ve seen other release Covers on the site that are not censored and contain full nudity, so I don’t understand where the line is drawn here. Please advise. |

If anything is going to be censored, I'd prefer it be blurred server-side, rather than users manually editing the images in mspaint before uploading. Ideally you could turn censorship on or off in your preferences.

I certainly love that, but there’s no infrastructure here for that yet, is there?

http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDRev...rown_bunny.htm So a few questions: 1. Can this cover be shared on the site? 2. If we upload an explicit image to the release page, will an admin/moderator censor the image or should we be censoring it ourselves before uploading? 3. Where on the site are the rules about what images are not acceptable? And if no rules are public, what is the criteria for explicit or graphic images on the site and in the forum? 4. When an admin/moderator deletes an image that a forum member posts, since there's no signature or way to contact them to follow up, why don't they simply post the reason for its removal? Many forum member walk around on eggshells because no one wants to be suspended or banned for breaking a "rule", but if no rules are presented and no further information provided, what's to prevent it from continuing to happen? I scrolled through some BD release images on the site to attempt to understand what's allowed, but it only made it less clear to me. Nudity, including full frontal: [Show spoiler] Example of censoring nudity (nipples covered with MS Paint?), while still being explicit: [Show spoiler]

Well, the background is that we never planned to have adult movies (or borderline) on the site, but some classic movies have that property and members added some of those to have in their collections so the inofficial rule was that if Amazon carries it, then we can have it as well.
The difference in this case is that it explicitly displays a sexual act, which has never been the case in the past. Even the Tabu cover is mostly suggestive. |

As far as I can tell covers that have nudity (or are adult titles) are blurred by the system, but if you click them they enlarge and become visible.
So whether adult content covers can be submitted I'm not sure, but I don't think there's any penalties for having them rejected. |

They don't appear to be automatically blurred by the system. I shared various examples above that were not blurred and have existed on the site for years, but now I see they've been updated as you described, blurred, but revealed once you click on them. If that was a feature/policy already in place, I would have expected iceman to simply tell me that, but they did not. Maybe it's new, but that's a great solution. At any rate, I still have questions that should be answered.

Sorry for the slow reply. We need to implement a system to blur the actual images (right now it's only html-blurred) before we can allow this cover. We plan on blurring all images except the large front cover when you explicitly click on it.

I broke down my questions and numbered them to make it easier for you answer, but I never got a response to this: 4.
