Default Disc only! (because you already have a steelbook)

I don't mind double dipping from time to time. But don't you think its about time every release has a "disc only" option to purchase?

As the title of this thread suggests, I already have a steelbook of the classics and I don't really care if it says "UHD 4k" all over it.

If the disc only option was $3-5 cheaper all that plastic i'd throw away could be put to better use.

Stores would stock them on a preorder basis only.

There are plenty of options. Besides, cost shouldn't be the only factor. Reduction of plastic waste would be a great benefit.

Or how about empty steelbook cases for sale if you already have the discs?

You're not going to save $3-$5 without a case. I'm thinking more like $0.30. You can buy regular bluray cases for that from casetopia.

Would be an idea for 4K discs
Won’t be replacing my collection like I did with dvd to blu-ray, so would be nice to have the option to buy a 4K disc for say £10 rather than pay for the dual set at £20in hopes of redeeming back a few quid for the duplicated blu-ray 1080 disc

There are some listings you can find on eBay that are disc only.

There already is a place this is being done.
It's called ebay.
I buy disc only 4K movies all the time to put in my existing steelbooks.
Believe it or not - there are lots of people who buy the 4K premium steelbook editions who don't have UHD and just want to unload the 4K disc and keep the regular blu ray.

See. I buy the 4k or 3d copy and end up with 2 2d discs. When I only want one.

The best way to do this would to have the companies who make blu rays just ship all 3 in one case like hmv have done for spider man and war for the planet of the apes.

This way it's future proof'd

Completely agree I have the same problem collecting steels and trying to avoid excess 2D Blu-rat discs. Which makes it more difficult to sell in the longrun. Best option for me has been Amazon France or FNAC. Most Warner Bros steels available in an ‘Ultimate Edition’ steel with 4K, 3D and 2D discs. Often (Aquaman & Wonder Woman) with a 4th disc: original film soundtrack.
