Yeah, it's a pretty fun system. Now I just need to get the right room for it, as well as a projector.

Please see my sig for my Axioms. I went another route with my sub, but I absolutely LOVE my Axioms (and I <3 my SVS).

I have a question that I hope someone can answer for me.

I currently have the M22, VP150, QS8 and the EP500. I'm planning on upgrading the M22 to the M80 and my question is can I use the M22 to make my room into a 7.1 setup or should I leave it at 5.1 and use M22 for a different room?

You can certainly use the M22s to expand to 7.1, assuming you have some space behind your seating. I imagine the results wouldn't be ideal if you have to have them directly behind the seating, but if you have the space, I've heard the results are very favorable. At the very least, experiment and see if you like it. Some people prefer the QS speakers all the way around, and some prefer having direct radiators like the M22s as the rear surrounds. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with placement and room interactions.

That being said, some people actually find very little benefit to the rear surrounds in their room, and they find 5.1 enveloping enough. The only way to know is to try it yourself.

What other room were you thinking of adding sound to?

I thought about getting the QS all around but didn't want the M22 wasted. Would the M22's be better on the rear than on the sides?

I was going to put the M22's in my bedroom with my older tv and receiver.

From all of the discussions I've read on it, people do seem to prefer the QSes on the side. They're there to simulate a wall of speakers like in a theater.

Whether the 7.1 configuration is worthwhile is going to be up to you. You should try to compare both 5.1 and 7.1 and see if it does enough for you. If not, then having the M22s in a second system is a great way to go.

I've heard that the rear surrounds should be not be directs. Some magazine or website did this big test on surround sound set ups and said direct is fine for the sides but for the rear dipoles/bipoles etc. were the best.
