Did this by any chance come out in the United Arab Emirates? Also, could you please upload pictures of the movie.. I'm interested in seeing the quality.

I highly doubt that, Disney likes to tie things in with each other, the same author of tarzan is the same author of john carter. So most likely they'll come together this year.

What on earth are you talking about? The Hunchback of Notre Dame stage musical (Der Glockner Von Notre Dame) not only left previews, it played for three years and became one of Berlin's longest running musicals.

Quote:
At that point, the studio head had ordered the animation studio to do more movies with human characters, like Pocahontas and Hercules, to make their stories more adaptable for the stage, and this sort of went over the cliff.
That's not even remotely true. There were no planned Broadway productions for Hercules or Pocahontas. In fact, both of those films went into production before their first Broadway musical, Beauty & the Beast, opened on Broadway, so that was never the plan with either of those movies.

Disney's next Broadway musical was The Lion King - which features an entire cast of actors playing animals. Their next musical after that was Aida - which wasn't based on any of their animated films.

There are no animated films that came out after Hunchback that was made just for the purpose of adapting a stage version. Not even Tarzan.

It was more after the blockbuster success of The Lion King that they started adapting more of their animated works to the stage. Little Mermaid and Tarzan flopped because the shows just weren't very good.

However, they've had a long-running hit in the stage version of Mary Poppins (which is a nearly 50-year-old movie), and now it looks like they have another hit in Newsies, which opened last night.

And don't even try to suggest that Newsies was made so they could turn it into a stage musical. That movie didn't even start out as a musical.

Quote:
Even if you liked Beauty/Beast and Lion King in NY (the Tarzan and Mermaid stage flops hadn't happened yet), if you asked the folks who didn't quite like it and didn't quite know why, the old animators' question of "If you can do it in real life, why animate it?", they would usually respond "Y....yeah! That was it!"
Beauty & the Beast and Lion King are now two of the longest-running shows in Broadway history (Lion King has been there for almost 15 years now, and still selling out)...so a lot of people liked them.

People didn't like Hunchback (and not me, I loved Hunchback) because it was darker and families didn't get into it the way they had gotten into the previous more lighthearted animated films at the time.

I just checked Amazon's UK site. They show Pocahontas, Tarzan and The Fox and the Hound coming out on May 21st.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pocahontas-B...341584&sr=1-39

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tarzan-Blu-r...341823&sr=1-63

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Hound-Bl...341823&sr=1-64

The first two have yet to be released in the US. Is everyone sure that in the US, Pocahontas will be released with its sequel? Why not do that in the UK when I see that other counries got both? Also, does anyone have US release dates, specifically, compared to the UK release dates of Pocahontas and Tarzan. If it's going to be a while, maybe I'll just import the UK versions. But I'd hate to lose out on the sequel. Wasn't there a direct to video Tarzan video too?

we've known about these 3 for a long time. the sequels are being released separately in Europe and a lot of other countries. we know the US is getting a 2-in-1 for Pocahontas as they've announced it (release date: Fall 2012).

They'd rather release Pocahontas than Hunchback of Notre Dame?

They'd rather release Lady and The Tramp 2 than Emperor's New Groove (with The Sweatbox as a bonus feature)?
