Pre-ordered right? Doesn't the US release not even have a proper release date to begin with? Surely you could just cancel your order and demand a refund.

Being outside of the US, that means he ordered through Diabolik who have a strict no cancellations policy, which I think they bolded at the top of the item description. Don't know if that's valid under consumer laws but being the US, I wouldn't know.

I'm still keeping my order for the Synapse one after learning the Aus and UK releases will be from the German transfer, and I'm interested in the Synapse one and can't wait for a standard release, but at $96 AUD shipped that was a ridiculous purchase.

Nah I ordered direct through Synapse. I could cancel, but I might just trade when I get them.

I didn't think Synapse shipped internationally? I thought it was US only

Need to listen the the UK commentary tracks and see if that one is worth keeping for those.
I believe that most / all of the special features from the Umbrella 25th anniversary DVD are being included.

Anyone watched their copy of the Umbrella 40th Anniversary of Suspiria?

Is it worth driving 30 plus minutes out of my way to a JB that purports to have a copy? (Completely different direction to my workplace )

And is the new 4K scan worth the $30 price tag?
Set-up: Sony 108cm KDL-43W800C 1080p LED TV |
Yamaha RX-V385 5.1 Ch 4K AV Receiver [Dolby TrueHD/DTS-HD MA], NS-BR301 Front L/R Centre, NS-E55 Rear L/R, NS-SW050 Subwoofer
Sony UBP-X700 UHD BD Player, Panasonic DMR BWT450 BD Recorder, Sony PS4 (500GB), Sony PS3 (40GB), US Sony BDP-S590 BD Player (Region A) |
Give me Blu-Ray or give me death...

Just finished watching my copy, I would say it's worth it (the drive & price). It's a definite improvement over the previous UMBRELLA release of the film.

Cheers. I bought Suspiria 40th Anni. Tuesday arvo. Last/only copy in store (disappeared from site after I bought it).
This is a blind buy. Will go into watching the film with above average expectations and see what happens.

Only seen two movies for me recently that have lived up to expectations (i.e. Went in expecting something brilliant); Deadpool and Get Out.

My cinephilic lifestyle has taught me to try to not to go into films with pre-conceived notions.

I like Suspiria, but I do think its abit overrated. I certainly prefer other Argento movies over it.

Question for a Canadian friend of mine. She has asked if this is region locked to B or region free? I can’t find any info on the region locking status

Played the disc in my US model Sony last night (to check region coding and specs) and it played absolutely fine.

Specs are all correct. However, I would have added that the audio and subs are only available by remote control (no option at Main Menu or Pop-Up Menu).

Otherwise, the picture quality is pretty bloody good (no pun intended... Really).

So is this new Australian the same as last months UK release?
Or is it a unique release using the TFI master?
And what extras does it have? All the ones from the previous Australian release?

After reading about the UK release here:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=298307

I am 99% sure the Aussie release is using the same Italian 4K remaster. Especially since it has English/Italian DTS 5.1 lossless and Eng/Ita subs.

Here is a listing of the special features:

- Suspiria told by Dario Argento: An interview with Dario Argento and Nick Vivarelli on Suspiriaís 40th Anniversary
- 25th Anniversary Suspiria documentary
-Exclusive interview with Dario Argento (2004)
- ĎFear at 400 degrees; The Cine-Excess of Suspiria documentary
- An eye for horror documentary
- Dario Argentoís World of Horror documentary
- Image Gallery
- TV and Radio spots
- Dario Argento Trailer Reel (1970-2009)

^To the post above, I have both discs- Italian and Australian. It's the same remaster, even with a Videa logo at the beginning, but it's not the exact same encode (though both do hover around a bit below 34000 kbps).

But, does anyone know the exact pedigree of the English DTS audio tracks on this? The description of 2012 version and xxx is vague, especially with a movie as varied a history as Suspiria.

There's an audio track that's 4000 kbps, which I'm almost certain is bit-for-bit identical to the English track on the newest Italian BD release. AFAIK, according to the thread, that was an upmix of the same famous track heard on the LD.

But, then there's the other audio track... the 3647 kbps one. Is this a port of the mix on the 2012 AU BD? I don't have that, so I can't compare... And, even if I could, I'm not certain where the mix comes from. It sounds softer and less robust (with less hiss) than the other track, but it doesn't have the tell-tale signs (added music, etc.) of the Anchor Bay remix.

Hope someone knowledgable can advise...
"Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun."
