I saw an NGC-content BD that Samsung paid for as their demo disc. It's called The Eye Of The Leopard. Fascinating, with some scenes that will make you smile. It's not out yet, obviously.

With the Warner Bros announcement in early January in regards to their switch to Blu-ray exclusively, we’ve watched each one of its entities slowly switch to the Blu-ray platform. All but two had made the switch before the June cut-off day, those two being National Geographic and the BBC. Now we’re finally down to one, potentially.

Today National Geographic released its list for upcoming titles and none appear on the HD DVD format. Instead, their one expected release, Sharkwater, was not found in the HD DVD category. The title is expected to release on 4/8 which is well before that June cutoff. This pretty much notifies the world that National Geographic has made the full switch to covering Blu-ray exclusively.

UPDATE: (12:25pm ET, January 30, 2008) Please note that this move to Blu-ray exclusivity covers films released under the "National Geographic Presents" shingle only. It is important to note though that the movies are not controlled the same way as the series are. Arctic Tale is on HD DVD and not on Blu-ray, because Paramount has the distribution rights to this. In fact National Geographic Films is a production company and has used many other companies for distribution in the past.
The fact is it looks like they will be planning to use HBO for their releases, but I'll have to confirm this.
Do not think this means NGS is neutral, because NGS does not distribute our own films. But I think they will be making an effort to go Blu.

I say they cause it is not my department, otherwise I would apply for Insider status. But I'm not, so I won't.

Quote from eric-somebody in response to a guy who said NG's future work with Paramount would be HD DVD exclusive.

"It's funny how you use HD-DVD and 2009 in the same sentence."

Great stuff.

What National Geographic needs to do is put recent expeditions of the Titanic on Blu-ray. That would be sweet!

apparently they don't get it lol ...I think they will come to Blu Ray though, just have to sell off their remaining HD DVD's and release Bee Movie and American Gangster and they're done.
