I recently read Sealed (which I now realize I picked up quite some time back) and thought it was pretty good. I just started another Dollar Tree book that I picked up a couple of weeks ago:

A Good American Family: The Red Scare and My Father by David Maraniss

Daughter From the Dark - Marina & Sergey Dyachenko - hardcover
Better Luck Next Time - Julia Claiborne Johnson - hardcover
A Crooked Tree - Una Mannion - hardcover

Found this book and figured why not. There were a few and the cashier said a lot of people was grabbing a copy. I thought it said it was about 16 bucks on Amazon.

I've picked up quite a few books lately. Some of these I've mentioned in the DVD and blu-ray thread, but since I'm about to put all of these up, I thought I'd list them out for anyone interested.

I picked these up for my kid, but just mentioning them because they seemed sort of cool:

Creepers Book 1 - The Piano
Creepers Book 2 - Stage Fright
Creepers Book 3 - Pen Pals
Creepers Book 4 - The Golden Goblet
Creepers Book 5 - Ghost Writer

All by Edgar J. Hyde. No idea if they are any good, but they sort of look like Goosebumps books.

Other stuff I grabbed:
  • The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: The Instrument of Death by David Stuart Davies (softcover)
  • Alita: Battle Angel - Iron City (prequel novel to the movie) by Pat Cadigan (softcover)
  • Mary Poppins Returns: Deluxe Novelization of the Film by Kathy McCullough (softcover)
  • The Twice-Hanged Man by Priscilla Royal (hardcover)
  • Adrift: A True Story of Tragedy on the Icy Atlantic and the One Who Lived to Tell About it by Brian Murphy (hardcover - nonfiction)
  • Alice Isn't Dead by Joseph Fink (hardcover)
  • Homeward Bound: The Life of Paul Simon by Peter Ames Carlin (hardcover - nonfiction)
  • Nottingham by Nathan Makaryk (hardcover)
  • Star Wars: Shadow Fall by Alexander Freed (hardcover) -- I was fairly surprised to see this, and there were at least two copies at one store.
  • A Matter of Hive and Death by Nancy Coco (paperback)
  • Warlock Holmes: My Grave Ritual by C.S. Denning (softcover)
  • Bird Box by Josh Malerman (softcover - the basis for the Netflix movie)
  • The Beneficiary: Fortune, Misfortune and the Story of My Father by Janny Scott (softcover - nonfiction)
  • Goulash by Brian Kimberling (hardcover)
  • Marshal Law: Origins by Pat Mills and Kevin O'Neill (softcover -- relates to the comic book character)
  • The Arrest by Jonathan Lethem (hardcover) -- I originally skipped this but picked it up when I found out Lethem authored the book Motherless Brooklyn is based on.

Another book find while out of town:

Relics by Tim Lebbon. Lebbon wrote The Silence and Pay the Ghost which have been made into movies (The Silence is a Netflix original movie and Pay the Ghost stars Nicolas Cage). He's also written a number of Aliens and Predator novels among other things.

[Show spoiler]

I've seen them in and out of the stock over at least the past two years. For awhile, I kept thinking it was the same book, but there's actually like four different books in the Omnibus series...and they are HUGE books, around 500 pages each.

I think I found three of them (all at DT)....so far.

Nice find -- I picked that up earlier this Summer as well.

I have omnibuses 2, 3, and 4.

The first omnibus is the novelization of Beneath the Planet of the Apes and Escape From the Planet of the Apes. It may be out of print as well because it's quite expensive on Amazon.

The second book includes novelizations of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (by John Jakes); Battle For the Planet of the Apes; and the 2001 Planet of the Apes film.

This third book contains novelizations of some of the storylines from the 1974 television series.

The fourth book contains novelizations of some of the storylines from the cartoon series, Return to the Planet of the Apes from 1975-76.

These are all from Titan books who have also put out novelizations of the new movies and prequel books to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War of the Planet of the Apes.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: Firestorm (prequel to Dawn) and War For the Planet of the Apes: Revelations (prequel to War). There's also Planet of the Apes: Tales from the Forbidden Zone -- a collection of short stories that has stories building off the original movie series, the new movie series, the TV series, and the cartoon series. If I recall correctly, I've found most all of those at Dollar Tree the past couple of years as well.

I was out of town recently and went by a couple of stores in the area and grabbed some books:

The Dinosaur Artist (hardcover - nonfiction)
Restless Lightning (softcover - sci-fi)
Dead Sea Rising (hardcover)
Death on the Nile (with a cover featuring the 2022 film)

Dead Sea Rising was actually autographed by the author, Jerry B. Jenkins, who co-authored the Left Behind series. The store had 4 copies, and all four were signed and it clearly wasn't one of the autopen signatures as there was ink bleed through from the signature and each one was slightly different.

I also found The Predator movie novelization, although that was at a Dollar General and was $3. I just mention that for book hunters -- there's often some good finds at Dollar Generals if you have them in your area. Last year I actually found the prequel novel to The Predator called The Predator: Hunters and Hunted.
