Question 7.1 Surround Sound

With the release of Blu-Ray and the capability to encode up to 8 channels of audio information, when will titles start to be release utilising this cinema surround format? Although the hardware and software boasts being able to carry the 7.1 mixes such as DTS, where are they? I am presuming that the majority of current post production audio is recorded in this format so where are the Home Ent. versions of these studio mixes? Any ideas, anyone...?

I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say that most movies actually dont utilize the 7.1 audio mix. It seems like most only go up to 6.1.

But I often did wonder why I barely ever see DVDs or Blu-rays with 7.1 channel audio.

DVD does not support 7.1 discrete at all.
There is little reason for BD to support 7.1 right now since essentially no hardware is available to decode it.
