Default 1080p Camcorders

Hi All,

I'm looking into purchasing a 1080p Camcorder. I go on a lot of Snowboarding trips out of country and would love to record our sessions in HD and then transfer it to a Blu-Ray disc.

I have absolutely no experience with HD video recording and transferring the video to a fromat that will work with my Blu-Ray player.

I understand I will need to get a Blu-Ray writer on my PC. In addition, I have a few questions.

What is a good 1080p camcorder?

What type of file format do I convert my video on the camcorder to for the best image quality and make it compatable to play on my Blu-Ray Player? (I have a Samsung BD-P1500)

Thanks everyone!

i don't know much about 1080p camcorders, what i do know is that 1080i ones are a lot cheaper. i have a 1080i one and man, i can't tell much of a difference between that and 1080p.

certinaly not enough to warrent the extra $$$ to go from "i" to "p".

I am also in the market for a new camcorder, and 4 great ones are coming in the next month or so.

The Sony HDR-XR520V (240GB hard drive) and HDR-XR500V (120GB hard drive). The only difference is the hard drive size. Both record video to the internal hard drive.

The Canon VIXIA HF S10 (32 GB built in flash memory) and VIXIA HF S100 (no built in memory). Both record video to flash cards.

I shot two short films in HD using Canon, I don't remember which kind. You can view stills here http://orlando-eastwood.tripod.com/id6.html
