Default Amazon Prime Video Problem/Samsung 4K

I have a Samsung 4K television, 8000 series from 2016.
I just that my Amazon Prime channel is streaming in "Full Screen" mode; that is, 2:35 letter-boxed films are squashed and filling the whole screen. I've fiddled with all the settings, -screen size, expert settings, -but nothing seems to change things. My Netflix channel is just fine as far as I can tell. My Roku shows Prime in the proper aspect, it just doesn't output in 4K or look as good as the Samsung channel.
Anybody have any thoughts?

I have the same series in a 65” and Amazon seems to be the most finicky apps. There was a time you could check the resolution to see if you were getting 1080P, 2160, etc. What do you have your Fit to Screen set at, On or auto? You’ll find it in the Picture settings, under Picture Size. Mine is set to On on all sources, but you can’t adjust it will in the app itself. I did watch a few things opening scenes and outside of the Jack Ryan series trailer, everything looked fine. Have you tried unplugging it, soft (hold the back button) or hard (hold the power button until the SUHD picture pops up)? You might also ask this question over at the AVS forum where there is a specific owners thread for our tv. Hope that helps.

I've tried a bunch of re-boot variations. I even removed the app and re-loaded it, and it remains the same. There was an update the other day and I wonder if that might have indirectly caused this. It's very odd.

I have the same series Samsung set and my app keeps crashing and sometimes won't load at all. I reset everything. The same thing.

I have a hunch it's Samsung trying to force you into a new TV. However, I just picked up an Amazon 4k fire stick and it seems to be working now.

I have an Oppo 203 that doesn't stream, so you need an external device of some sort.

Yes, it happened to me a few days ago, i’ve got the ks7000 and the Amazon app just wouldn’t load. It’s back up and running now. In fact Netflix and Now tv were also playing up but they are also working now. Well they were yesterday!

The only issue I've had with Prime on my 2018 Samsung is (during The Grand Tour UHD) certain shots are blacked-out completely. The entire picture dims for a dew seconds at a time. Happens at least twice per episode. Not sure if it's a problem with the app, the TV processing the image, or what.

Anyone experience this?
