I've long wanted an Obi-Wan and Owen Lars team up movie, maybe they can adapt my pitch into a series. "Ben, you're not gonna trick me again into joining you on another damn fool idealistic crusade, you crazy old wizard!"

Okay.
Based on Tarkin's "Surely he must be dead by now" comment to Vader in Star Wars, I'm guessing they assumed that he must have died with the other Jedi post-Revenge of the Sith.

Silly Imperials.

They don't start shooting until next year, so, we may be waiting until 2021 to see the run. Eat your veggies and exercise, you old farts.

Even if it's just for one episode, I would LOVE it if Joel Edgerton made an appearance as Owen.

Hope there’s an “Ewan’s lightsaber sounds” audio option for the show

The one thing about this series though.... it had long been canon that Obi-wan did NOTHING between 3 and 4. Just hid away and fell into a guilty despair and went half mad before slowly coming out of it in time to help Luke just as he showed up.

OTOH, with Solo, they had it set up for so many potential amazing things with the you know who at the end, Qi'ra, Han, Lando. Now THAT could be more movies or a long running series.

Little is known about Kenobi during that period. Knowing little about what he did is not the same as him doing nothing. All we know from canon is what we saw in the Rebels episode. None of the other stuff you mention has ever been mentioned in the movies or tv shows therefore never canon.

Luke knew him, Chewbacca might have met him before too, they could at least converse.

I had to look up Deborah Chow. Doesn't seem like she has much experience. I guess we shall see.

I think the problem is it's less subtle now and it's prioritized over good writing.

It was less subtle in the fact that people didn't feel the need to virtue signal and pat themselves on the back for everything they do. And maybe it felt less subtle back in the day because they were actually well written movies. It feels more glaring when it's a poorly written film.

What is it that makes something “political” such a horrible thing, anyway? When people cry for entertainment without political elements, what they’re really highlighting is that they’re nostalgic for a time when they didn’t understand enough of the world to CARE about these elements.

The world is political. Deal with it.

At no point did I say it was a horrible thing. I just said it's a problem when you prioritize your political view over a good script. Maybe people are actually nostalgic for a time when movies were written better. Now it's all lazy, unoriginal reboots and sequels with worse writers and directors.

I'm also not sure why you keep posting and deleting.

Tons of great “original” movies are made every year. You just need to know where to look.

Let's be real - anytime a lead or a secondary character is not a white straight male, people pull out the pitchforks and cry SJW.
