Default Hulu's "Castle Rock" (Season 1)

Quote:
J.J. Abrams and Stephen King are teaming up for a limited series on Hulu.

The surprise announcement came Friday evening, thanks to a mystery image posted on the official Twitter account of Abrams’ company Bad Robot. The tweet signaled fans to a trailer for the series, titled “Castle Rock,” an ode to the fictional town in Maine, which is a popular setting in many of King’s novels.

Fans of Stephen King, known as Constant Readers, will recognize “Castle Rock” as the setting in many of King’s books, including “Cujo,” “The Dead Zone,” and “The Body.”

The trailer winds a path past many famous locations found in King’s books — like ‘Salems Lot, the Shawshank State Prison, Pennywise (the clown from “It”), the name Annie Wilkes (the crazed uber-fan in “Misery”) and more — before zooming out on a map of Maine.

“Castle Rock” marks the second collaboration between Abrams and King at Hulu, following last year’s “11.22.63,” starring James Franco.

Hulu isn’t the only platform adapting King’s work these days. Idris Elba will star in a film adaptation of “The Dark Tower,” which hits theaters this summer; a new iteration of “It” is coming Sept. 8; and Spike has greenlit a series based on “The Mist.”

Nice. It will be an anthology show:

Quote:
Hulu is going back to Stephen King and J.J. Abrams for its next drama.

The streaming service has ordered anthology Castle Rock, named after the town featured in many of King's books.

The anthology will weave together characters and themes from those novels that use the Castle Rock location. Each season will follow a different set of characters and storylines while interjecting themes and specific characters from previous seasons.

Wish it wasn't on Hulu. Netflix or Amazon would have been better.

Heard this is premiering at SDCC. It'll be a while before it airs in the UK but I'm still stoked!

FYI, if you have an Apple TV you can watch the first episode without a Hulu subscription:

(also works on iOS devices, but it would be a shame to watch this on a tiny screen)

Really good so far, wondering if Bill Skarsgard is playing
[Show spoiler]Randal Flagg
. Unfortunately made it as far as the halfway point of Episode 3 and it seems Hulu won't load the rest and just replays the first half over again.

Watched first episode and enjoyed it. Some of the cinematography and use of color is well done. The casting is good very and the pace was measured but it works well. Hopefully series lives to up the pilot. If it does I'm in for the long haul!

Only caught the first episode so far. I'm really enjoying it. It is a slow burn, but I have a feeling it will pick up as all the characters are established.

While I find jump scares can be cheap at times, the jump scare in episode 1 almost ruined me. The audio is annoying where all music and sound effects are SUPER loud, with dialogue being on the lower end of the volume spectrum. So when those loud noises kicked in I thought I was a goner, but I'm still here! Surprisingly my son didn't wake up. haha.

First episode was really good... wish they released them all at once. But I'll try to spread out the next two until Wednesday...

The actor that played the younger version of Scott Glenn's character reminded me of Justin Theroux... which is funny since Glenn/Theroux played father/son on The Leftovers.
