According to Tower Japan, the Bruckner release will have 192/24 audio, while the Tchaikovsky release will have 96/24 audio. However, we have seen these Blu-ray Audio releases have incorrect audio specs advertised, so I have not added this information to our listings.

Right now, both sets are only available to pre-order on Amazon.de and Amazon.it, but that should change shortly.

I'm not so fond of HvK's Tchaikovsky, but the Bruckner is great. I already have the CDs. Will it be remixed in multichannel? I'd buy it if it was.

Like many who might buy this set I already have the CD edition of the Bruckner. What a shame they don’t offer just the BD!

An interesting note about the Bruckner Symphonies 1-3 on the back cover (found on Facebook here):

[Show spoiler]

At least they've let us know on the packaging instead of letting people discover when they put the disc into play.

If it's upsampled, you wouldn't know by the display on your player. It would still look like 24/192... not that it matters to the sound.

I purchased this Bruckner cycle when Deutche Grammophon released these individually on CD way back in the mid-to-late 1980's when the marriage of classical music on CD blasted off into the stratosphere. What's going on here [that you've pointed out now] is that Symphonies 1-3 were originally recorded DDD. They were some of the earliest pure digital recordings by DG, and also, they were the last three Bruckner symphonies in Karajan's cycle to be recorded. Symphonies 4-9 were ADD analogue to digital remasters, recorded before pure digital recordings burst onto the scene. Luckily 4-9, Bruckner's mature symphonies, were actually the far superior recordings when DG transferred them to CD as it turned out. It's a fabulous cycle by Karajan and the BPO but here is the fine point of it: 1-3 suffered from a flawed digital edge and brightness which was commonplace amongst DG's early DDD recordings; especially those recorded at the Philharmonie in Berlin. No doubt the upsampling on 1-3 is an effort to tone down the digital edge and brightness of the original recordings.

Easy to fix with a little EQ I bet. I have a more recent release of these and it sounds fine.
