Default ‘Game Of Thrones’ House Targaryen Prequel Series

Quote:
Hold your dragons, Game of Thrones fans, another prequel of the hugely popular fantasy series is eyeing a green light. I’ve learned that HBO is close to giving a pilot order to a GoT prequel from author and GoT co-executive producer George R.R. Martin and Colony co-creator/exec producer Ryan Condal, which is set 300 years before the events in Game of Thrones and tracks the beginning of the end for House Targaryen. I

Created by Martin and Condal and written by Condal, I hear the project is based on the Fire & Blood book by Martin and has been in the works at HBO since last fall.

According to sources, the Condal/Martin project is not a sixth GoT prequel. I hear it represents a brand new take on a world originally tackled by Bryan Cogman in one of the five GoT prequel scripts commissioned by HBO in 2017.

This *should* have a lot more dragons than GoT.

Balerion, Vhagar, Meraxes, Vermithor, Silverwing, Caraxes, Meleys, Vermax, Sunfyre, Seasmoke, Sheepstealer, Cannibal, etc.

Mind, it was kinda hinted that Sheepstealer was still alive in the Vale and Cannibal in Skaagos during the series proper.

What I really want is Dunk and Egg, though.

Especially after he got dicked down by a 90-lb teenager.

This sounds cool. Looking forward to it.

Hopefully this time the showrunner knows what he is doing.

Only interested if Martin is WAY more involved. The last season of GOT was dreadful.

There's certainly more material for the Targaryen Dynasty than the Long Night.

ASoIaF 1-5 doesn't even have a Night King. Just legends of the Night's King (13th Lord Commander of the Night's Watch who got frisky with a female Other).

I'm far more interested in the other one, but I'll take as much of this world as I can get.

Dunk and Egg would be great, but it's supposed to be 9 stories and GRRM only wrote 3 to date. Also, based on the fact that the shorts story are 'short' maybe a miniseries of 10 x 1-hour episodes would work best.

Yep. Sadly, GRRM has already said no Dunk and Egg adaptation until he writes all the novellas.

Frankly, I blame it all on Martin and all the arguments that can be made fall back on him. Him leaving the show to focus on the books was futile for both and he probably would have impacted the path of the show's take on the story had he at least just stayed on for dialogue continuity and oversaw the final draft of each episode so characters actually remained consistent (Tyrion).

I only faulting D&D for the Tommy Wiseau direction of the series finale and for not giving a full 10 episode season for 7 ending with The Long Night and then giving Season 8/Dany/King's Landing more time to develop. Instead, we got a truncated cliff note finale. I honestly love the first three episodes and while I didn't hate the fourth or fifth ones, everything that could have been explored more in depth and connected for people that missed Dany's madness coming, on top of better direction and exercising all the events out, we could have just gotten better all around.

As the final season stands now, I with Neil Marshall had done The Long Night and Miguel Sapornik had directed the last two episodes. I really hated the amateur hour of direction with D&D with that finale.

I disagree. The show be damned for all I care. Martin should do whatever he wants.
