Going to see this on Friday. Local film theatre is screening it in 70mm, can't wait!

Feel strange about going to see a, I guess you could say, 'comic book movie'. It is a relief to see it is actually based in reality and doesn't have any of that typical guff those movies tend to have.

@ midnight last night Joker was @ around $999,300,000 worldwide.
Right now, twelve hours later (Friday) Joker is already over a billion dollars.
Yesterday it made $602,413 domestic (and around $1.4 million international).

Today the bag is in the one billion cash register box office machine...figure of speech (Irish origin).

Congrats Joker!

If it was based on reality, he would’ve been screened for weapons at the climax.

There’s still time to get down to the shops and get yourself a Groucho Marx kit. You know you won’t be able live it down if you're seen anywhere within a 10 mile radius of a theatre showing such material.

I guess I'm in the minority here. I liked but did not love it.

My friend said Joaquin Phoenix's performance topped Heath Ledger's performance. Not for me but it is apples and oranges but I'm more entranced by Heath's performance which I considered a game changer.

For myself, I look at Joker as taking the character and removing him from the comic book universe. Scorsese has been talking about super-hero films. If he made one, this might be what he would come up with. There's elements of King Of Comedy and Taxi Driver in this film, both of which I enjoyed far more than Joker.

I cancelled my steelbook order and I collect just about every super-hero steelbook. This film is really not a part of that universe. I still may watch it again when it comes out to give it a second chance.

Joaquin turned in an Oscar worthy performance. I did not think De Niro was great as Johnny Carson. I think there was some irony in casting him which may be the point.

Nevertheless I'm glad I watched it.

Tough to compare.

There was no Batman to play opposite of Phoenix in this.

Part of what made Ledger's performance so fantastic was his love-hat chemistry with Bats. All cards are on the table.

I love their performances equally.

It's a "comic book" movie, but the realism is pretty damn accurate. I love that they mixed a comic book character with realistic aspects.

Not yet, tomorrow...Sunday November 17.
But we do know that it is already over $1 billion...or yesterday or even the day before, Thursday. What matters now is how much more over will it get...$50 million+, $100 million? I'd say $66 million.
