Crash winning over Brokeback Mountain wasn't just a bad example of poor voting, it's one of the worst results I can think of.

It was a complete disaster.

Some people speculated that it was due to the members at that time being homophobic. Because Brokeback Mountain had momentum, Crash didn't. Crash just came out of nowhere and won.

You wouldn't be saying that if you actually did, though. Like, come on. You are telling me a MCU movie made you cry more than a non-comic book film? I love the MCU, but they don't deal with actual real world issues. Once you bring a macuffian like the space stones, then I have to alter my standards to enjoy.

I think it had the most to do with too many people actually thinking that Crash was somehow socially "important." I really do.

Homophobia may have had *something* to do with it, when all was said and done. But I really think the defining factor was this whole, "Oooh, look at the social/cultural commentary in Crash! Look how smart we are when talking about our society!" type of thing. But that's exactly how I felt back then, too.

That's one of the reasons why I dislike Crash. It feels like artsy fartsy nonsense. MCU fans here give me crap for acting like an "elitist". Nope. Y'all just need to watch more films is all. Get out of the house once in awhile. But yeah, even the fricking director of Crash said it shouldn't have won. At the end of the day, Brokeback Mountain will hold up strongly decades to come, while Crash is already forgotten.

You obviously have a poor idea of what's good. I'll give you, crash was not worthy of BP but brokeback Mountain was much less so. ... Oh it has two guys having sex, wow that's so worthy of BP.

It's not even approaching hyperbole -- not in the slightest. One of those films is frickin' brilliant. The other is trash that is not only not brilliant, but also just offensive to the supposed idiot audience.

The first one didn't win. The second one did.

The only peoplele who still give a rat's ass about Crash in ANY way are people like me (and it sounds like you, as well) who still know how bad -- how horrible! -- that decision was. No one else cares about that movie in the slightest.

The real travesty is The King's Speech winning over The Social Network and Black Swan.

Unfortunately, I yet to see The King Speech. But I'll get to it eventually when the right opportunity comes by. I'm not sure if I prefer The Social Network, or Black Swan more? That's tough. MAYBE I'll give the edge to Black Swan, again, maybe. But I could change my mind in a minute or two.

Nah. King's Speech won fair and square. Social Network and Black Swan were all that great as the former, while well made, was just mediocre and the latter was just an arthouse version of Showgirls.
