Is Blu-ray 3D standard independent of active 3D or passive 3D?

I'm considering replacing my Panasonic DMP-BD35 blu-ray player, and would like to include 3D at least for future proof purpose.

But I read about passive 3D being rolled out. My understanding is they will be a different type of display technology. Do they require a different type of 3D blu-ray player and 3D blu-ray movies than those that are currently working with active 3DTV/shutter glasses?

3D is 3D. The disks will be the same no matter what and the players should not have any problem.

It will work fine with any of the technologies coming out in the forseeable future.

Movies (the disks) and 3D BD players will be the same. The TV and the glasses will be the only thing different if they do introduce an affordable circular polarized option soon.
