Oh yeah, GreatGreg reminds about the batteries for the remote.

The Seiki - like a lot of low cost products - ships with the cheapest imaginable batteries. They're not regular AA alkalines, but a carbon battery with similar, but not exact, dimensions.

As a result, when these cheap batteries die, which is usually very quickly or sometimes even before consumer purchase, the user ends up putting in the common AA batteries we all use. In some cases, the size difference means the battery contact isn't good, which leads to people finding a remote is malfunctioning or broken.

I believe the common fix is to open the battery compartment and look carefully to make sure there's good electrical contact, bending or stretching the battery contact metal if necessary.

Can't remember for sure if the Seiki has this issue, but it's worth checking yours.

I played around with most of the settings and was about to eject the disc when I realized it was playing in the correct 4:3 ratio!

Only problem is, I have no idea how I did this, or if it was my doing at all...

Help!
Simple fix. Go to setup, and then on TV Setup set it to 16:9 standard. Think it automatically sets it to 16:9 full, which stretches.

Thumbs down

well im officially done with this brand

today was the last straw

I was watching Machete earlier this morning and at the end of the movie i pressed the eject button.

The player ejected and no disc came out. I pressed eject again and the disc played...i ejected again and no disc came out.....
i figured maybe it was an overheat issue so i gave it a couple of hours....

the disc still won't come out when the tray ejects...now im going to have to take the player apart and hope i don't screw up my disc.....

unbelievable....

guess im going to have to start looking for another player

Been noticing interruptions (possibly at the layer break?) anyone else observe that on this player?

I'm also done with Seiki

Bought 2 units, had to return them both, got a Sony BDP-S185

Lose the region free part, but at least I can actually watch movies now

A bit of a bump, but i am looking at the Black Friday ads, and i see that K-Mart is now offering the SR212S model for 39.99, but one quick positive that i see is that it has the digital media centre available though the front for your USB in.

So, does anybody know if this has multi region possibilities?

Canada doesn't have K-Marts.

I know, and am outside the GTA, but am considering going down for Black Friday, so was wondering if anybody has found out about this other model they offer.

I think one of my Seikis is finally dying. With 2 of the 3 blu-rays I have played this week I noticed midway through playback that the picture would freeze for a second and continue to do it occasionally throughout. Only way to fix it was to take out the disc and put it back in.

That Seiki doesn't owe you anything at this point!

I upgraded to an RF 3D BD player so my Seikis went into storage.

Good player. My Mom's still works. I've since upgraded to a region free 3D player though.

Still, you can't beat $10.00.

Hmmmm, 10 dollars... hmmmm.

Would they trade for my busted toaster and a bunch of expired movie money passes?
