Default Best Blu-ray to test system ??

I have finally setup my Sony 520 AV Receiver, my Panasonic 310 Blu Ray player, and my 7.1 surround speakers, and I am wondering what Blu Ray disc you recommend to test the system with?

Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance for responding.

I'm not sure what you have in your collection but if you have PIXAR's Cars on BD it will really put your system to it's paces (the racing scenes are just astounding, even Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby which is a comedy has fantastic sound), the racing effects just blew my away even on my non-HD Yamaha system.

Any of the newer blockbusters should do the trick.

Thanks for the suggestions. Also just purchased "Skyfall" and that lit the equipment up for sure. Gave the subwoofer a real workout too. Thanks again.

Way too many for me to list. But I will throw out that Hellboy II was one of the first 7.1 disks I listened too on my system. And loved it.

I agree on the TRANSFORMERS movies, but there are others out there which are more watchable hahahaha.

Also, you might find this thread informative.

Happy viewing/listening!

When I played Tron: Legacy the girl upstairs kept running to the door to see if there was a thunderstorm. She wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.

There's so many out there but my top 2 for audio/video are Life of Pi and Tron Legacy. Pure reference on all fronts for those 2! For 3D Life of Pi takes the cake with Dredd and Prometheus the runners up! Enjoy!!

Start with the Picture Quality Tiers list for ultimate video quality:

The current reference standard is probably Avatar.

Way too many to list as previously stated. I agree with all the above recommendations though, and will add the Podrace scene from The Phantom Menace, and the High Roller scene from Sucker Punch.

There are several posts to titles that offer extreme LFE multi-speaker action such as Tron Legacy, Transformers 3, but if you just want the best all around performer then that offers exceptional 2D PQ and AQ, so far Season 2 Game of Thrones is just gorgeous to take in. Season 1 also was reviewed as one of the best of 2012. Other titles that are great reference BD titles are Prometheus, The Amazing SpiderMan, and of course Avatar (extended version).
