Pretty sure I blew the engine, that black spot was the source of quite a bit of smoke on Thursday. Also it had been leaking quite a bit of oil for some time now, yes I know, something I should've had taken care of. Thing's almost 15 years old so if the repairs are too expensive I will just start saving up for another car. A factor to consider is that it also needs new rear struts and the driver side passenger door needs to be replaced as well. Plus whatever caused the leak probably needs to be fixed as well, so in addition to the engine(which I assume would cost about $2000 to fix), so if the engine is indeed dead the car is not worth fixing.

I'd say it was time for a new car indeed. Do you buy new or new-used? What brand are you looking at?

I am looking at 2013 Hyundai Elantras with less than 50,000 miles. Heard it's a solid car and I really just need something to get me around till I can afford a new car. I was hoping that would be this 2000 Camry but between this latest mishap(granted my fault re: the oil leak) and the thousands of dollars I've already spent over the last 3-4 years fixing it, I think it's time to cut losses and admit my parents sold me a car on its last legs. Granted, I don't think they did it on purpose but they did do it.
