Love Andre Holland. Plus, he and Soderbergh work well together. Looking forward to this.

This is available today. I just watched it and I got to say it was pretty good, a lot better than the average Netflix film.

I love Soderbergh. He is one of my favorite directors, but sometimes he produces crap. This unfortunately is one of those times. I was bored to death watching this. Didn’t care for any character or the story. One saving grace was Soderbergh’s often bizarre camera angles which I absolutely love.

I enjoyed this, but Unsane was better. Also, yeah, kind of puzzling and not much to the characters.

Better than Polar and Velvet Buzzsaw at least, Netflix wise.

Yeah, dug this a lot and was very interested in the proceedings despite not being interested in any sports at all. Another hit from Soderbergh for me, big fan of him

Well shot and edited but not that engrossing for me. Kind of confusing at times too...

André Holland was great though.

I didn't care for this at all. It wasn't as much of a chore to get through as Velvet Buzzsaw (being an economical 90 minutes helped), and it was well-acted and slickly shot as you'd expect from a Soderbergh joint, and yet it was fairly boring and hard to follow.

Didn’t find it to be all that interesting and I’d be lying if I said some of what was happening didn’t go over my head

Review is up now, Orndorf really liked it.

I saw this last weekend, and even as someone who likes to follow the behind-the-scenes/business side of sports like basketball, I was still quite lost at times too when watching this, haha. My interest waxed and waned throughout the film, it was kinda weird. Smart screenplay if a little too impenetrable at times. As for the iPhone look, I think this film looked better than last year's Soderbergh iPhone film Unsane, though overall I much preferred the pulpy psychological thriller thing that Unsane had going for it.

Tarell Alvin McCraney's sharp, quick-witted script and Andre Holland's expressive performance elevate what could have been another rote sports drama. 3.5/5

I loved everything about this movie. Andre Holland is in complete command in the lead role here, and is supported strongly by Zazie Beetz. It's a very cerebral film, and throws a lot at you, but it all comes together nicely by the end. This has some really great dialogue in it, and the snappy back and forths feels straight out of a David Mamet film. I highly recommend checking this one out, though I can understand why some may not care for it. They throw you right into this almost political chess match, and you have to pay close attention, and gather info as you go along. You have to be in a certain mood to get the most out of it, or it'll probably just go right over your head.
