Wow...that trailer looks like a short Fellini film.

Gorgeous and moving. Timely. It doesn't even feel like a movie so much as a cyclorama of life from a specific time and place. Cuarón + Lubezki is unmissable.

Cuarón himself is the director of photography.

Ah, I didn't realize! I thought it had Chivo's serene, wide angled eye, but I guess Cuarón is more than capable of shooting that style himself. And it makes the project all the more personal. Very cool.

If it’s really that good then we’re gonna find out just how strongly the Academy is biased against movies with Netflix distribution.

That's awesome, I love his films. I'm happy for him. I did read, over and over again it seemed, that it was very beloved by the audience.

I doubt that it will win -- heck may not even be nominated for -- Best Picture (Best FLF is obv. a different question). But I have watched that trailer so many times now. And honestly, I don't even give a damn what the other movies look like, if Cuarón doesn't win for Cinematography then there truly is no justice in the world. It looks so beautiful.

I'm going to see it on the big screen at NYFF. Was planning on waiting for Netflix, but with talk of an exclusive theatrical run and them adding another regular price showing (the gala showings are an insane $75), figured why not.

I already had tickets for Buster Scruggs and Other Side of the Wind there as those felt like more of what I'd want to see on the big screen (Wind also has a Conversation with the filmmakers after). I saw the Obama biopic Barry in theaters but that was using a free pass to iPic chain, so these are first times I'm actually paying to see Netflix films theatrically.

Given the hype, I was a bit disappointed with this movie. It's a fine film with impressive acting and moments of greatness, but didn't feel like the knock out cinematic achievement I thought Children of Men and Gravity (I think Gravity may be the best movie so far this decade) were.

There was nice visuals and an impressive sound mix, but not sure it's a film one needs to see in a theater. It's smaller scale enough that I think Netflix viewing could suit it enough and one may prefer to save some money.

Was gonna buy a ticket to a film festival showing but I'll save my money and see this through A List instead.

Looks like it will be Netflix's first ever film to have an exclusive theatrical window (which I think was needed to help its awards chances). It will open in theaters on November 30, two weeks before Netflix, in up to a dozen cities.
