I have a region free modded version and love it. The picture looks so much better than my older Samsung player.

Mine arrived by mail today. It is a refurbished unit. I like it so far. I had a H-SBS 3D file on my thumb drive and it played where on my Dell pc it would not show up on my PS4 or 3D PC Monitor connected to my Dell laptop.

I've been using the Sony X800 4K 3D player for around a year now (maybe longer).

But the X800 doesn't do DV, so I've been looking around a bit at other players.

But guess what, the new Sony X700 recently got DV...but it disables 3D in the process.

When you enable DV, the 3D player functions are disabled...this is completely mental.

If this is how it's going to work with DV players, I'm sticking with the X800 for life.

The X800 is a great player, very solid build and whisper quiet.

And me - cost me a pretty penny at the time but it was worth it. I cant hear the actual machine working which on its own is worth it.

Just disable DV when you play 3D flicks.
* Sony needs to fix that...it should be automatic.

i wish mine was. it stops about 10 min in on every 4k disc i put in, i have to FF a few seconds then it plays fine all the way. I was listening to audio CD after about 30 min it completely froze the player. this one will be going to the bedroom pretty soon hopefully i will be able to snag an OPPO.

Just do a Reset. And unplug the player and connect it back after a minute...AC.
Make sure Quick Start Mode is Off.
Use the two HDMI outputs.

I'll experiment with mine and see if I get the same result. I would do a reset as others have suggested and see if that helps. I wouldn't mind having an Oppo either.

I did what you said except using both hdmi and I played die hard 4K and it went through flawless. Tried other 4K discs for a few min each and none froze, let’s hope it keeps this way

I'm thinking of getting this player,my PS3 which I use solely for Blu-rays doesn't do Atmos in 3D......is it safe to assume this Sony does?

Might pay the extra and finally go region free.

I plan on getting the new version of the 800 which gets released in May. The new version will have Dolby Vision support. So I will be able to watch 3D and 4K.
Will get rid of my Playstation Pro as I will no longer need it.

The 3D Blu-rays that come with 3D sound (Atomas, dts:X, Auro-3D) are pretty much zero existent. If you want 3D audio it is restricted to 2D video. That's the way Hollywood movie studios operate when they release their movies on Blu-ray. Maybe some day they'll be able to see the light and wake up. That'll be the day.

P.S. Is there a thread with the list of the 3D Blu-rays that have a 3D soundtrack (Dolby Atmos & DTS:X)?
It must be a very very very small list.

I own a few 3D discs that include Atmos so its certainly more than "non existent"

HD Goofnut has the lists....
