Default Lexus LC500 or Audi R8

I'm thinking of getting a used car. One thought is a used 2014 V10 R8 that has 10k miles on it, and will try to get it for 105k. I juts like the coolness, I won't be racing or overly speeding. The other choice is a 2018 Lexus LC 500, no where near the quickness but has modern technology and is cool looking as well. Used with 500 miles I would get around $87k.

Any thoughts between the two? I'm pretty sure the Lexus wins out in reliability and has more comforts. The R8 has the speed of course and probably still the coolness? What are your thoughts? I would still use my existing car for bad weather and such.

I'd go with the Lexus, simply for the looks. Also Lexus usually has decent ratings and a higher resale value. There is one that I know of in town, and it's just the most beautiful car. My mom has one of the big Lexus sedans from 2011, and my dad has been trying to talk her into trading in on the LC model. She keeps saying I'm too old to get in and out of a car like that. She likes big cars for some reason. Good luck to you either way, it's going to be a BIG BIG purchase. lol

My dad has a 2017 LC 500 at his Arizona house and I like it a lot. It's plenty fast, drives smooth, and is plenty comfortable. He previously had a Jaguar F-type and while it was nice it doesn't compare to the LC 500.

It pains me to say this but if I was in your shoes I'd get the Lexus. I prefer the R8 in every category possible: styling, interior, performance, etc...however given the Lexus is newer, less expensive and you said you like the way it looks, its the winner.

I just can't get over the hideous front grille on the Lexus.

Actually I think I will have to test drive both cars and go from there. Seem them in person and everything.

Neither, If this was me and at your price point I would go take a hard look at a cts-v from Cadillac.

The only problem with the Cadillac CTS V and Lexus LC Series is that their rear wheel drive only. Even in the rain, that's a problem, unless the rain is light.

I would suggest checking out the 2018+ BMW M5 and current Mercedes Benz E43 AMG, E63 AMG and E63 AMG S. These cars are all wheel drive only.

Since ay221 is considering the R8, I also recommend checking out the 2018 Audi S5 and RS 5. I would also like to recommend the 2019 Audi S6 and S7 when they come out later this year.

If the Audi S8L (yes, for the first time ever, there will be an S8L, something Audi's customers have been begging for since 2007, especially in China, Hong Kong, North America and South America) comes out later this year, I recommend checking that out, too. If the S8L comes out late next year for 2020 and ay221 can wait that long, I still recommend checking it out.

Also, ay221 should check out the RS 7 (and perhaps the RS 6, if it comes to North America and South America) late next year for 2020, if he can wait that long. Like the R8, all of the Audi's that I mentioned are all wheel drive only.

I really want a coupe. I did find a 2017 Jaguar F-TYPE SVR - $99,500.

I will need to try that out as well.

The S5 and RS 5 are available as coupes and, again, all wheel drive only.

The R8 sold, not that I really wanted to go that high. I guess I will also take a look at Porsche 911s.

If you can until late 2020 for 2021, BMW is replacing the 6 Series with the 8 Series. The new 8 Series will be BMW's best vehicle yet and far better than the original 8 Series in every way.

There will be an M8. It will be all wheel drive only (as will all future M models from BMW with the possible exception of the Z4 M).

Yes, the M8 will be available as a coupe (as well as a convertible and hatchback sedan with frameless door windows, marketed as a "four door coupe" called the Gran Coupe or Gran Turismo). I believe the next Z4 M (available as a two seater coupe and roadster) is also coming out in late 2020 for 2021. If the next Z4 M is all wheel drive only, I recommend that (and, of course, the M8).

I really liked the Cayman GTS in dark red. It really handled the roads well and is quick. I might go that way, but I will try some more cars out first.

Too bad it's not available with all wheel drive (at least not in North America and South America). Maybe that feature is available overseas.

What about the 911 or 911 Carrera, ay221? Those are available with all wheel drive worldwide.

Yes, I could get that. But it would most certainly have to be used. WIth brand new and stripped down, I'm looking at $111k. Not including tax and all that. More than I'm willing to pay. But used I could. However this would be a second vehicle. So I wouldn't really drive this in inclimate weather.

Still, I have the Q60 Red sport and the Audi RS5 that I need to take a look at first.

I did test drive the Q60 red sport. While the power was ok and seats were nice, it just didn't have enough luxury for a GT car. Also the stereo was only ok.

the RS5 looks nice from pictures, but the dealerships don't have any that aren't already pre-sold. So Once I do try that out it will be between the Cayman and that. I know two very different styles. And I could go either way. if I go with the Audi and my current car dies, I can use that year around. I will just be very nervous during big thuderstorms with possible hail.

Oh, I have the Porsche Cayman GTS on order. Since it's a custom build, it won't be ready until October.
I'm getting it in a dark blue color, with the Burgmester audio, LED headlights, leather interior, PDK, and several other options. This will be my fair weather car. I will also take it on some paved curvy mountain roads here in Colorado.

If for some reason there are tariffs in the way, then they will refund me all the money back.
