Default Kino Lorber Sale

There is a Kino Lorber sale for May which ends Tuesday, May 29th.

https://www.kinolorber.com/list/view/code/may18sale

There are a good variety of titles there and many are under $10.00 US.

Most importantly, shipping is FREE to Canada for orders over $100.00 US.

I pulled a rabbit and ordered a bunch of titles including:

o SPACECAMP
o ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN MARVEL
o 8 MILLION WAYS TO DIE
o SHALAKO
o PRIZZI'S HONOR
o TOBOR THE GREAT

I ordered from them this past Christmas. Order placed December 19th and order arrived December 28th.

Did you order for $100+ and were you charged duties and taxes?

It's really tempting but I fear it might end up costing more than placing two smaller orders and paying the shipping..

No, I wasn't charged duties/taxes. That's for the Canadian government to charge me once it ships.

Even if they do, 13% would be cheaper than shipping I think.

Over the past, I must have ordered maybe 5 times from Kino Lorber and I didn’t have to pay any duty fees.

It wouldn’t help to place two smaller orders because both orders would still probably have over $20 CDN of value each.

Thanks, I think I'll go ahead and place my order, some of these deals are just too good to pass up..

I have been charged duties for both of my Kino orders from the new site, but they were $180 USD and $375 USD.

Best just to go for the free shipping. Worst case scenario, you get hit with duty fees which work out to what you'd have paid for shipping anyway. I'd hate for you to pay for shipping on two lesser orders and get hit with duty fees on both of those individually. Technically, the limit is only supposed to be $20 and Kino Lorber are NOT customs friendly, i.e. if you buy $100 worth of stuff they mark that amount on the declaration form.

I don't really think of duties because everything we buy 'on sale' whether it is from Walmart, Amazon.ca, Best Buy, are all charged duty.

If they catch the Kino Lorber shipment, you are just breaking even. However, I have been lucky with my previous orders.

However, I wouldn't put in a multi-hundred dollar order in one go either. $100 is the minimum for free shipping, so I would split them into several $100 orders if I was ordering that much.

Damn. I can't find $100 worth of stuff to buy.
Anyone planning to do an order and lives in Ottawa? LOL!

I just want two of these at total of $23.

Yep, I always make it work so that my total order just goes over the $100 mark, I think the last time I got it to be $100.42. Anything that doesn't make the cut, I just wait for a future sale because Kino pretty much have them monthly now.

Apparently there will be a bigger sale next month. If you are having troubles getting to $100 this sale, might be good to wait (though there is no guarantee that everything you want will be on sale next month).

Not sure what’s happening with the Kino titles on Amazon.ca - pre-orders used to be added regularly (albeit later than on Amazon.com). However, more recent ones like Whatever Happened to Aunt Alice, The House That Would Not Die and The Bounty only seem to be available through 3rd party sellers at a higher cost....
