Since Nintendo wants to sell NES and SNES classics until the end of 2018 I would say at some point in 2019.

Yep. I could see this being a holiday 2019 item easily.

If Nintendo wanted to sell those as much as some people think, they'd add more games, more units and lower prices.

Why would they lower the prices when they know people are willing to pay the current price?

True, I just don't think these are worth it at $60 and $80 when modding for quite a few more games is a thing. Not to mention Raspberry Pis.

Yeah pay $150 when you can pay less and get official controllers and things. Use to have a Rasberry every controller I had for it lasted only a few weeks. Plus I could never get it to save my games.

I have a lot of good memories with the N64. I remember Super Mario 64, WCW/nWo Revenge, and of course Goldeneye. WCW/nWo Revenge is the best wrestling game I've ever played.

An N64 Classic Edition would be exceptional. With games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, Banjo-Kazooie, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong 64, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, and the games I mentioned beforehand, you're looking at one of the best consoles ever made.

I hope the N64 Classic Edition includes all the games I mentioned (Goldeneye included).

Every home in the country has a Wii which will play game cube games, all you need is a game cube controller and the game.

You can pick both up on eBay easily.

I highly doubt Banjo-Kazooie and Golden Eye would be included, they don't have the rights anymore.

I love the NES Classic and the SNES Classic. However, I followed Squaresoft to PlayStation so I never had an N64. My brother had one and I played it a bit, if it comes with Perfect Dark, I will consider getting one.

That won't be happening since MS owns Rare. If the N64 classic has 4 controller ports and different controller colors like the original, (not to metion 4 player games included), this will be huge in dorm rooms. Like others have said in this thread, don't count on a N64 classic hitting store shelves this year.

It's more than just MS owning Rare. Notice it wasn't on Rare's Retro Replay or 360 Arcade/XBL?

Quote:
At the Develop conference in Brighton, Englad, Rare senior software engineer Nick Burton spoke to Videogamer about the ongoing negotiations between Nintendo, which published the original Goldeneye, Microsoft, Rare's parent, and a number of companies that own various licenses to the James Bond property.

"That was a tricky one. To be fair, I kind of wished that the differences got sorted out, but obviously there's the licensing issue for Bond, even if it's something that's already come out," said Burton. "It's incredibly hard to solve because there's so many license holders involved. You've got the guys that own the license to the gaming rights now, the guys that have the license to Bond as an IP, and there are umpteen licensees."
Quote:
"The ball's not in anybody at Rare's court really. It's squarely in the license holders' courts. It's a shame. It's kind of locked in this no man's land. There's nothing on Live Arcade, there's nothing on Wii," he explained. "It's just what happens legally sometimes."

I've read similar to this before, and it makes me sad I was in a gaming hiatus at the time. I played Ocarina of Time on the 3Ds and a PC port of Doom 64 (unofficial I guess) but that's all from N64 era. I would definitely be down for a classic edition so I can try some of these other games.

I’m just wondering the size of the “mini” consol... the N64 controllers were huge and awful IMO.

Probably safe to expect exactly what they've done the past two times. Hardware inside should remain the same as it's plenty powerful for the N64. Controllers will be full sized and the system will be 1/3 of the size.
