Default A way to repurchase movies in iTunes that are MA imports?

Is it possible to repurchase movies in iTunes that have ported over from MA so I can buy 4k copies? I have tried "gifting" a movie to myself with no such luck. Just curious if there was an easy way that didn't involve MA or Apple's help desks.

Depends where you originally purchased them... for old Sony, CinemaNow, or Flixster purchases, you can delete them yourself from myuv.com, wait for those titles to disappear from the linked VUDU account (sometimes a UV refresh and/or unlink-relink is required), and that will remove them from MA. (You can verify this by checking your transaction history there — should show new entries at the top of the list for deleted titles with the date they were removed.)

For VUDU purchases, you can call or email them and request to have titles deleted. (This will also remove them from UV, FYI.)

Amazon purchases can be directly deleted from there, although I have not personally confirmed that also deletes them from MA.

If they were purchased on iTunes, Google Play, or FandangoNow... you're out of luck. None of those services appear capable of deleting titles.

You can gift yourself on iTunes and redeem the code emailed to you.

Looks like the OP has tried this already. It also won't work if he wants to get the movie back into MA as 4k, since iTunes "gifts" don't transfer to MA in 4k.

I do this often myself, because one it's often cheaper to gift myself a movie that's on sale than to try and find a code (if a code for the movie even exists, at that). Second, I don't particularly care if the movie shows as 4k in MA, since iTunes is my primary viewing method.
