Yes. A couple examples off the top of my head:

Blue Underground and Shriek Show (Media Blasters) released their respective DVD's of Zombie/Zombi 2 on the same day.

Universal's Halloween II 2011 Blu-Ray didn't go OOP when they licensed the title to Shout! Factory last year.

The major studios can license stuff out, and keep their versions on the market at the same time (Universal's Halloween II BD is still available even with Shout Factory's version out there). Edit: zbinks beat me.

But when it comes to smaller labels and movies like Nightmare City--I think the rights generally belong to just one label. Raro even mentions that they're prepping a new DVD (along with the BD). Edit: zbinks brings up an interesting case. Hmmmm....(With Zombie--was there a dispute as to which label had the rights?)

In any event, I'd say it's a good thing that Raro picked Nightmare City up--since BU hasn't done jack squat with it the last few years.

I just hope this new HD transfer is not handled by LVR.

Well that's all we need: Bruno Mattei on Blu-Ray...

This is one of those old titles, dating back to Anchor Bay.

If you look hard enough, there's a SUPER cheapie DVD 2 pack that you can potentially find at dollar stores that has this film under the "City of the Walking Dead" title (along with Phenomena under its "Creepers" title) to give you a rough idea of what you're in for before buying it... hell, you could probably find the remastered DVD from Anchor Bay for a decent price used. If you enjoy cheesy Italian horror, you'll enjoy this! It's not as over the top ridiculous as, say, Hell of the Living Dead, but it's still awesome! On that note...

Yes, please, YES! That would be epic, in all of its Dawn of the Dead knock-off glory Spring/summer is when I most get into watching these kinds of movies.

Hell, speaking of Mattei on blu, Zombi 3 WAS supposed to get a blu release from Shriek Show (I even spoke to them about it in person), but obviously that ain't happening anytime soon. Hell, just getting Zombie Holocaust and Burial Ground was a chore.

EXCELLENT news!!! This is one my favorites. Got to see it on the big screen a year or 2 ago in Chicago. Such a fun one.

ZH was a case of "not bad, could've been better". But it was still a step up from the muddy/interlaced DVD transfer (which at the time, was the best looking disc... how far we've come!)

the poster is awesome..

the film is good on a so mentally bad/tacky level.

its more like 28 days later running zombie infected things tearing around attacking people, with some hilarious performances!

the first time i saw it i really didnt like it...it took me another couple of watches to get into it.

the dvd is dirt cheap maybe you should check it out before paying full wack on this.

Thanks, for some reason I've never gotten around to upgrading the DVD.

Thumbs up

I'll be grabbing this for sure.

And if "Hell Of The Living Dead" comes out, I am totally all over that one as well!

(have two different DVDs of it and would love to upgrade)

Officially announced for October... no specific date yet, but pre-order links are up on Raro's site:

I'm probably gonna order this directly from Raro. Maybe they'll ship it out early? Is the aspect ratio really 2.35:1? That seems hilarious for a low budget zombie flick...

Yep, it is... and hell, Fulci seemed to shoot 2.35 on a regular basis, so I guess Umberto Lenzi gave it a shot as well

I like to order directly from Raro when I can. They usually ship early, and they often offer promotions like B2G1. Their customer service, while not the fastest to reply, have always been helpful, and once shipped me a free movie over a minor inconvenience due to a shipping mishap.
