That confirms my initial thoughts that Optoma P1 has far better 3D. Obviously Vava is not going to be popular among 3D fans. Too bad as that would make this the best UST projector for its money.

Just sold my Optoma P1 for $2325. It sucks that I'm losing high quality 3D but overall the Vava was the best choice for me

Wasn't an easy decision especially since I love 3D on Optoma P1 but it was the overall best decision. Vava gets the nod for best look for my room, best 4K and 1080p picture, better blacks

I once again tested 3D using movie Mortal Engines.
Here are some tips:
Whether you're playing 3D from bluray player or from any other media player, it is very important to ensure the player is set to 1080p and not 4K.
Also, at least on my setup, 3D picture pushes too much red/magenta with color temperature set to warm so I switch to custom color temperature (R1024, G1024, B1024).
These small changes will somewhat improve the 3D experience but still a long shot from the 3D quality of other active 3D projectors.
This is the only big complaint I'd have regarding this projector. Almost regret selling the Optoma but with only 1 room available keeping both was not convenient.

I thought I would dabble in 3D again last night. Popped in Avatar 3D disc again and the screen blacked out..some processing words appeared on the screen that I did not catch and then BAM..there it was in terrific 3D. So what happened from a few days a go to tonight I have no clue.

I used the same settings and top to bottom 3D on the shift mode..but all of a sudden last night it was really working.

I will try again tonight with some other 3D discs.

Maybe you changed the order of steps you take to play 3D?
By the way, picture in 3D pushes too much blue and red on my screen. I have to lower Red to 900 and Blue to 800 while keeping Green at default 1024

I was able to finally achieve a half decent 3D picture. It took some tweaking of picture settings but at least now watching movies in 3D is enjoyable again!

I’m finally ready to pull the trigger on a projector. I’m purchasing a 120 inch Vividstorm UST floor rising screen. I’ve narrowed the projectors down to the Vava and optima cinema xP2.

I’m still a little confused. Are these two projectors true 4K? Or using a pixel shift technology?

Also... are there any plans on adding 3D to the XP2? I saw the XP1 supported it but didn’t see it in the specs for the XP2. I was looking at the Epson, but ultimately crossed it off the list due to the significantly higher cost and not being true 4K at that higher cost.

Thanks in advance.

XP2 supports 3D. None of these projectors are native 4K.

correct....the Vava and the Optoma use pixel shifting....not sure of the LG that costs over 5 g's and the new Samsungs are shifters as well..the top model is over 6g's..yikes.. Don't let that fool you..the picture quality is fantastic on these UST's.

No 3D on the xp1....go figure.

xp2...oops..no 3D from what I read

None of them are native 4K.
Optoma P1 and P2 both come with 3D included.

Is the 3D active or Passive on the Optima X2 and the Vava? I currently have a bunch of Sony PS3 glasses that I like and would be great if I can reuse those.

I noticed you recently switched from an P1 to a Vava... was there any reason you chose Vava over the P2 when choosing a new UST?
