United Kingdom Network, BBC, Screenbound, Renown, Fabulous Films and Simply Media thread

There doesn't appear to be an existing thread on the forum for the UK labels Network, Odeon Entertainment, Renown Pictures and Simply Media. They release mostly black and white British films (including 'B' movies) and mostly release them on DVD (some of Odeon Entertainment's titles have been RKO films). Source of the titles and their release dates (subject to change) below is Amazon UK.

Renown Pictures, this past month, released their latest double feature titles:

The Flaw/Witness in the Dark
Three Silent Men/Inquest.

Next month, they're releasing the following two double features:

Gaolbreak/Danger by My Side - Monday 21st October
Naked Fury/Mark of the Phoenix - Monday 21st October.

Simply Media are releasing six double feature titles on Monday 14th October:

The Blue Parrot/Burnt Evidence
Crow Hollow/Castle Sinister
Dangerous Cargo/Dead Man's Evidence
Delavine Affair/The End of the Line
Final Appointment/Murder on the Campus
Mysterious Mr. Davis/The Lad.

Some of Odeon Entertainment's titles being released in the next few months (some of them may be re-releases):

The Asphyx - Monday 14th October
The Bounty Killers - Monday 18th November
Confidential Report - Monday 2nd December
The First of the Few - Monday 2nd December
Gold - Monday 11th November (Blu-ray release also)
The Internecine Project - Monday 18th November
Journey Into Fear - Monday 28th October
Mister Johnson - Monday 2nd December
No Orchids for Mrs Blandish - Monday 18th November
A Study in Terror - Monday 11th November (Blu-ray release also)
Tod Slaughter Triple Feature - Monday 14th October
Tommy - Monday 11th November (Blu-ray release)
Treasure Island (early 70's version) - Monday 2nd December.

A-Z of The British Film DVD titles from Network:

Yes, this is not a film title, but as Simply Media don't seem to release many TV titles, thought it would be worth including in this thread. Simply Media are releasing a DVD set in November of the first series of Softly Softly: Task Force (16 episodes in total). The UK release date is Monday 18th November (source: Amazon UK, and title and it's release date is subject to change).

This is rather confusing, regarding Odeon Entertainment's release of A Study in Terror, the John Neville film. There's an ad in the new issue of Sight & Sound magazine, featuring four forthcoming Odeon titles - Tommy, The Asphyx, Lady for a Day and A Study in Terror. It mentions that A Study in Terror is being released on DVD and Blu-ray on 11th November, yet Amazon UK only lists a DVD release.

EDIT: The Blu-ray of A Study in Terror is listed on Odeon Entertainment's new look website.

Also being released on Blu-ray by Odeon Entertainment in November is the Roger Moore film Gold.

Cheers for that.

I'd be especially curious whether any work has been done on the sound.

I sent Network a second email (same as the first):

Quote:
Regarding Network's forthcoming DVD releases of The Scarlet Pimpernel and The Return of the Scarlet Pimpernel, are the transfers going to be the same as the previous DVD releases by Network, or have they been remastered?
but didn't get a reply, until this Wednesday when I received a reply to the first email:

Quote:
Thanks for your email.

For the upcoming releases, both films are new transfers from existing film
elements.

For the interested, Network is currently having a summer sale 50% off.

There are some embarrassingly good deals to be had.

If ordering from the states, it may pay to place several smaller orders as shipping jumps from approx £8 to £40 after 5-6 single discs.

It seems to have been quiet recently with new film titles being added to Network's website. The only titles which have been added to the Forthcoming section of their website recently (that I know of) have been some TV titles and one film title (source of the titles and their release dates is Network's website, and titles and their release dates are subject to change):

Birds of a Feather: The Complete ITV Series 1-3 - Monday 17th October
Cuckoo: Complete Series 1-3 - Monday 17th October
Trollied: Complete Series 1-5 - Monday 17th October
Wentworth Prison: The Complete Seasons 1-4 - Monday 24th October
The World at War: The Complete Series - Monday 10th October

and British Musicals of the 1930s: Volume 6 - Monday 15th August (*).

(*) - British Musicals of the 1930s: Volume 6 contains the films Sleepless Nights, The Student's Romance, I Give My Heart and A Star Fell from Heaven.

Regarding the TV title Killer (a trilogy of TV plays - Killer Exposed, Killer Waiting and Killer Contract). This Network TV title was on the release schedule a while back (earlier this year or later on last year?), but was subsequently removed from the release schedule. However...by accident I came across something on Network's website yesterday or the day before. I didn't realise this, but Killer appears to have been released (sometimes a new release title has been stated as being available to buy, when because of an error it wasn't yet available to buy on Network's website), and it's a Network exclusive. A listing was added to the BBFC's website last Friday for Killer.

Thanks for the updates OB.

Looking to pick up the latest British Musicals of the 1930s, Cloak without Dagger, and possibly the Crime Collection.

Brilliant that The World at War will finally be released on BD in OAR!

There have been some other TV titles and a film title which have been added to the Forthcoming section on Network's website and to the Network section on Amazon UK which either passed me by or I forgot to post about them in this thread (titles and their release dates are subject to change):

Bella Mafia - Monday 5th September (source: Network's website and Amazon UK)
Count Arthur Strong: The Complete Second Series - Monday 26th September (source: Amazon UK)
Fuga - Monday 31st October (source: Amazon UK).

TV title The One Game: The Complete Series has a release date of Monday 26th September (source: Amazon UK), but it's now available to buy on Network's website.

In the past couple of days, some new TV titles have been added to the Forthcoming section on Network's website. These appear to be from the BBC library, with the exception of The Animals of Farthing Wood (titles and their release dates are subject to change):

All Passion Spent: The Complete Series - Monday 3rd October
The Animals of Farthing Wood: The Complete Series - Monday 3rd October
The Life and Times of David Lloyd George: The Complete Series - Monday 3rd October
Sink or Swim: The Complete Series - Monday 3rd October.

Thanks for this.

Nothing for me this time around unusually--however, will likely be picking up Carve Her Name With Pride upon its release.
