Urusei Yatsura is a given.

Nice status update for Ultimate Muscle. Still amazed I missed it way back then.
Iria and Cutie Honey could be okay.

I'll get around to Black RX. (on that front, my orders of Megaranger and Jetman arrived today...)

The dub cast has me interested in Saber Rider.

Ok, thanks! Guess I can scratch it off my bucket list now. Le sigh...

I wonder what they got from WEP besides Saber Rider? GoLion, Dairugger, Bismark, and Albeigous I think are with them so I hope they got those too. Also if they did an SD BD of Denver the Last Dinosaur is buy it even though I have the DVD.

Not really. I only collect animation I've heard of, from the 90's and onwards.

nothing for me but the list of things I'm looking for from discotek potentially is rather small.

my remaining wish list for discotek is:
-anything digimon
-anything zoids
-the funimation dubbed portion of case closed and then i might start collecting the rest of the show
-mar
-rave master
-rurouni kenshin
-jackie chan adventures
- toriko
-swat kats
- zatch bell
-anything .hack
-an igpx blu ray release
-the prince of tennis
-hikaru no go
-andriod kikaider
-read or die

I have a few other things on my wish list but they are more likely to be released by other studios.

Noozles is my childhood fever dream show. For the longest time I couldn't figure out if it was real or imagined. I would buy it out of nostalgic principle alone.

Pretty solid slate.

The situation with The Legend of Calamity Jane is weird. Three US releases within a year from different companies (Invincible Entertainment DVD, comix.tv DVD via Kickstarter that has yet to ship, Discotek SDBD).

It's too bad that there doesn't seem to be a will to improve distribution, but oh well. Took a Got Anime subscription to make importing Discotek titles less painful.

Well, I just picked up their Iria DVD, but I'll definitely grab the Blu-ray for sure. And A-Ko 4 since I have the other three. I'll probably break down and get Aim for the Ace even though it is a sports anime, since I was on my high school tennis team for 4 years around the same time this anime was made, back in the 1970's. That will probably be about it for me.

Similar thing happened with Adventures of Sonic since there was a DVD release that was still recent when Discotek picked it up from Invincible for SD Blu-ray.

I was delighted to see the Aim for the Ace movie announced! Hopefully that bodes well for good sales of the first TV series and that Discotek might license later installments of the series, i.e. Shin Aim for the Ace, the Aim for the Ace 2 OVAs, and the Aim for the Ace: Final Stage OVAs. That said, what we've already received is a minor miracle, so absolutely no complaints if this is as far as they go. I'm just enthusiastic for more sports anime, more shoujo anime, more Dezaki, and especially all three at once!

I am also stoked for the announcements of Iria and A Wind Named Amnesia and am hoping similar titles will emerge from the fabled vault in the future. When asked about additional titles from the vault being licensed in the post-announcements chat there was enthusiastic chortling that is very promising for more Bubble Era classics getting licensed.

I was also happy to see Urusei Yatsura TV get announced for an April release date. During Q&A they confirmed the first set will be five discs and around 50 episodes. Later volumes will apparently be four discs, so I'm not sure how the episode count will break down for the rest of the series; with 194 episodes to get out the door we may need 4 additional volumes to wrap everything up.

As always, another great Discotek Day. Kudos to the team for keeping us informed, entertained, and suitably hyped up to throw money at them with both hands.

I thought this was a really good Discotek day. It didn't have anything that I had been specifically hoping for, but some titles that interest me, good updates on stuff we already knew was coming, and a nice variety of titles for everybody.

Stuff I already knew about that I will definitely get:
'Gunbuster' - hopefully none of the delays that were mentioned as a possibility
'Fist of the North Star: Ballad of the Legend of the Tale of the Conquest of the Planet of the Fists' - was hoping they would give more of a plan for the release of subsequence films in this series, but I'm still looking forward to getting the first one
'Urusei Yatsura: Le Premier Coffret' - Classic series. Talk about this got lots of people in the chat rooting for 'Maison Ikkokou', which would be a dream, but I won't get my hopes up for that one.
'Project A-ko 4' - I'll pick up all four movies when I do my big import order this summer.

New announcements I will definitely get:
'Bohachi Bushido: The Villain' - looks like a fun sword movie
'A Wind Named Amnesia' - cool apocalypse story, looks like my taste

Stuff I might get, but not a mission priority:
'Iria Zeiram the Animation' - mixed feelings on this one. cool hero, great art style, but it drags on way too long with a really stupid ending. And I've noticed a lot of you buying the DVD for this lately, you have my sympathies.
'Aim for the Ace: Der Film' - This might be a good starting point for me to decide if I want to go all in on the series.

Thanks for mentioning this. It got me looking and I saw all four movie releases in Japan have ENG subs. I bought them all used cheaply even with getting "limited editions" for 3 of the 4. Shipping is more than the items of course, lol.

Proof that other installments getting upgrades (Media Blasters with live-action Zeiram) pushes people to get the one that didn't.

Regardless, looking forward to double-dipping myself.

Like, why didn't Robert keep anything else that he found in there for himself? And doesn't that mean that Robert should essentially know everything that Disco is keeping a secret from what was found in there?
It's a film storage laboratory. There was a slew of mislabeled material. (this is unfortunately a common occurrence afaIk) A-ko was in the bunch amongst other things. One can't just "take" the material for whatever use unless they have permission for it. Discotek has insofar only touched materials for licenses they already have or worked out after the material's discovery. Robert didn't "take" A-ko because he wasn't on any grounds to. I'm not sure how much people in the industry talk but it's thanks to him striking gold and letting Discotek know.
