I went to Dollar Tree on the 20th and they had 4 of those boxes, tons of DVDs but only a few Blurays (maybe 10)

I got these:

Blu-rays:
Outcast (2014)

DVDs:
Beverly Hills Christmas (2015)
Finding Phil (2016)
The Killing House (2018) Includes 2 Bonus Movies (2018)
[Show spoiler]

The Killing House (2018)
Headhunter: The Assessment Weekend (2010)
Curtains (1983)

Mystery Science Theater 3000 Presents: The Undead (1997/1956)
Recovery (2019) >Different Cover<
Ruby's Quest (2015)

I would have posted this yesterday but my touchpad on my laptop quit working, but I got a mouse today and it seems to be working.

Got back from the store near me that usually puts stuff out early. They had a pile of the white MOVIES boxes unopened in the aisle next to an already full endcap. So now the question is when will they put them out? In an hour, a day, a week? I'll probably go back tomorrow.

The Nice Guys is so enjoyable and rewatchable for me. I remember seeing the novelization at DT a while back. I'd love to find Queen of the Damned and Love & Basketball.

Seeing a lot of Keanu. For those that got it, is it coming with a working digital copy?

Drove past that store with the family today and though, “Nah.” 🙄 I’d go tomorrow just for LEGO BATMAN.

Elsewhere in Madison as of last night: I found CONJURING 2 and A HIJACKING on Blu And PURPLE RAIN on DVD at E Wash & S First, which weren’t there after the October drop, but I didn’t see anything else that specifically indicated the November titles. Nothing new at the other E. Wash or the South Towne.

I went by two stores today. Both got 16 boxes in. The first store put them out this morning and they seemed pretty untouched -- maybe 4-5 total were missing when I looked through them. The second store had at least 6 of the boxes still sealed and there was probably 15-20 total missing from the other 10 boxes. I asked and they were fine with me opening the 6 still sealed (which was great since I found a couple of interesting outliers).

Overall, here's what I grabbed today:

Blus:
  • Green Lantern steelbook (there were 2 of these but one had a loose disc)
  • Meg-A-Shark Collection (this was a high want and I was very surprised to find it!)
  • Dying of the Light (w/ slip)
  • The Raven
  • Life on the Line (w/ slip)
  • Visions w/ slip (Canadian)
  • Bloodrayne: The Third Reich

DVDs:
  • The Real Ghostbusters: Volume 4
  • BBC: Save Our Skins
  • The Surface (Sean Astin)
  • This is Our Christmas With 2 Bonus Movies (w/ slip)
  • End of Fall (w/ slip)
  • BBC: Clay
  • Lake Placid: Legacy
  • Lake Placid vs. Anaconda
  • Lost & Found
  • The Matchstick Men (snapper case)

The Real Ghostbusters volume 4, Matchstick Men, Green Lantern, and Meg-A-Shark collection were outliers (although I did find two copies of the GL steelbook as I mentioned) that I was quite happy to come across.

The manager at the South Towne store told my friend they have them, but are following the street date.

I also checked the new-ish Waunakee store, but nothing new there...but they did still have a few hundred older titles in the Hardware section.

I don't want anybody projecting their Covid at me without at least a mask in the way on their side (I've got a layered mask augmented with coffee filters plus a face shield, and still don't feel safe, given multiple co-morbidities and my wife's absolutely trashed immune system.)

Mine did not have a digital copy, so it sounds like this is a YMMV situation.

I went to the DT today which said they put the BF movies out a couple days ago. There were still over 10 white boxes full, probably 80-90% DVDs. I got roughly a dozen Blurays and more DVDs than I care to admit. There weren't too many repeats from prior waves, and most happily almost no Echo Bridge stuff. Loads of kids, Christmas and dog movies, several multi-movie packs like The Kids 8 Movie Marathon Volumes 1-3 from Entertainment One (hopefully the quality is much better than your usual Echo Bridge 6-movies-per-DVD fare). They had all but a few of the low budget animated movies Big Lots is selling for $3/$5, and many other unusual movies I had never heard of.

I had only heard of less than 20% of the stuff I saw telling me how obscure they must be (or how out of it I am). My mind continues to be blown how many (strange sounding) movies there are. From past experience there are always a few gems, a lot of watchable but meh stuff, and a bit of pure junk mixed in. I never knew there was an Open Water 3 movie, yet another movie named Prey, 2 different movies named Blood Shot (not the Vin Diesel one), The Wannabe, Straight Outta Compt... I mean Oakland 2, Zombie Massacre 2, Zombie Fight Club, Daddy I'm a Zombie, Dead Don't Die in Dallas, Yakuza Apocalypse, Beast Legends, Legendary Beasts. Who would've thought there is a BFF Detectives or Baby Geniuses and the Space Baby. Off Piste's cover looks like At Close Range to me. Put together almost any random 2-5 words and there's probably a movie by that name. :-) I think someone named Bart Simpson summed it up well when he said "Ay, caramba!"

The biggest miracle of this DT visit: not a single person tried to look at movies while I was there. The movies were back in electronics on the shelves (not endcaps) and most people didn't know or care about movies.

Then I stopped by the nearby Big Lots to see their BF movies which are a few dozen more $1.88/$2.88 movies probably 90% of which I had never heard of before. There were lots of Asian movies mixed in. I was so overwhelmed and burned out, I just grabbed a few based on the covers.

While I didn't have the nerve to grab it, I learned today that not only did they make a second SURF'S UP film, the sequel is voiced by a bunch of WWE peeps.

I too was left alone to hawk the movies. Nice to have movies not up front.

I still remember I found a king's ransom of movies at a place one day, but this little, old lady was standing right in the middle of the front display. I tried to poke around standing from the side and I kid you not, she dropped some tear inducing ass, I think to make me go away. It worked. It was really bad.
