Here's two anime that star tanukis. Which one you think is better: Pom Poko or The Eccentric Family?

Curious if anyone else is familiar with it?
Essentially it's "Kick Ass" the Anime.

AtA has it up for preorder and though I missed the initial special sale price, at 42 GBP it's still not a bad deal I think.
It's an absolute wild ride. It surprises you every couple episodes with where it's going, it's hilarious

Smaller subtitles and potential video quality and translation improvements. The credit roll from the 2013 release was reused, but the discs are brand new as the menu has 2019 credits in the "Disc Credits" in extras.

Should I get the Geneon or Funimation DVD set of Tenchi Univese? From what I understand, the Geneon set has more special features but all the discs are red and I don't want to have to switch through 8 discs just for 26 episodes.

FUNimation license-rescues on DVD generally look worse, so the Geneon DVDs should look a bit better. The red discs are due to the Geneon Signature Series, which was a budget line Geneon had. The original 8 singles don't have red discs.

Are there any online comparisons?

Highly doubt it unless Discotek picked up the rights after Media Blasters used to have it.

Are you talking about either one of these releases?

If so, then no. Those were 100% FUNimationís handiwork, for better or worse.

Only FUNimation releases that reused the Geneon discs untouched were the stuff they distributed for Geneon and the Anime Classics releases of Samurai Champloo and Gungrave.

Why are there a whole bunch of anime blu-ray listings rated as PG-13?

Well I know at least some are because Funimation used to put 13+ like on Dragonball GT and other older titles. So it’s like well PG-13 13+ same thing. So it’s like not the actual rating it was given but like the closest thing to the rating it was given other than just putting something like TV-PG or TV-14. But that was how it was DVDs. I imagine something similar happened with Blu-rays.

Well, if you didn't know, this website now added a 13+ rating so I hope someone other than me is willing to update all the PG-13 anime listings to 13+.

Iíve been out of the loop on that for the past 2 years for not being able to edit or add listings anymore to the site.

But yeah would need a change those to 13+ or as a TV Rating especially for those that did air on TV Uncut or at least not having any major differences from the TV Airing to the DVD or Blu-ray.

Geneon, Bandai Entertainment, Central Park Media, Media Blasters, and Aniplex USA also used 13+ as well as ADV Films until around 2005 (this is when they switched from the + ratings to standard TV ratings), and RightStuf also used 13+ until around 2014 or so when they too switched to standard TV ratings. Many didn't realize if you scroll down more that option is there.

On another note, a large number of releases as well as show pages show "Not Rated" when nearly every single North American anime release in existence has an age rating on it. The things that happen when people trust Amazon which is known to have plenty of inaccurate info. People also get Discotek Media stuff wrong, they're the only company that doesn't rate their stuff, but they use "Unrated" on the back instead of "Not Rated".

There have been a ridiculous number of releases I've had to fix the age ratings on as well as the movie pages, as well as switching "Anime" to "Yes" because IMDb doesn't use it as a genre tag.

I'm curious about this as well, since I have a soft spot for Jubei Chan. The first show had a BD release in Japan, but this second one does not. Its also an early 2000s show which could make it soft looking to begin with and its Media Blasters, so I'm not too hopeful about the quality. I have heard that its missing chapter breaks which is not encouraging. I'd like my suspicions to be proven wrong, but if not I'll stick with the old Geneon discs that I have.
