Also, most movies are shown dubbed in Europe. Portuguese is a huge language, and Disney+ has Portuguese dubs available, so that might not be a problem at all.

Disney+ isn't a theater. And whether they dub them or forced subtitles in the local language, it doesn't change that characters are speaking English when they shouldn't and it's about the intended audience. Mandarin is just as big as English with far more native speakers, yet Shang-Chi has scenes with characters speaking English when they shouldn't have. Black Widow is the same with Russian.

In every instance, it has nothing to do with the movie or the in-world rules, but the audience.

The only reason some people are wondering about non-English dialogue is because this is going to be a Japanese import, so usually with Japanese blu-rays, the subtitles have been all-or-nothing, which some people don't like.

It would also alienate younger audiences or those that have difficulty reading. Yep, Disney trying to pander to China by having forced Chinese dialogue in it was almost certainly why that happened. Amusingly, China wasn't amused by it. As for English in Shang Chi, The Mandarin does tell Shang Chi to train his brain by speaking English.

On one hand, the Eternals pulled a MiB and were aliens who invented much of earth's innovation. On the other, they could have just taught humanity English from the get-go and created a unified culture + language. But, like the Eternals being sent to earth with bodies looking like humans who did not yet exist, I'll chalk it up to get another oversight of a movie whose director wanted to tell a short story but got saddled with having to find a way to stretch it out over 7,000 years.

If not for a few of the 3D shots, I'd say that this movie could have stayed entirely in the modern era.

I have not seen this film yet. So there will be an English audio track, and apparently everyone speaks English in the film. But what about the alien languages, etc - usually that's accompanied by a forced subtitle track for alien dialogue, but this disc won't have forced English as a subtitle option. So do those parts appear embedded in the video, or is that going to be an issue? On other formats, does that dialogue appear embedded or does it rely on a forced subtitle track?

The 3D discs from Japan are all the same for the last 3 MCU movies. You either have to turn subtitles on and off as needed for any language subs or watch the entire film with subtitles on. There are no burnt in subtitles.

Annoying but entirely in line with expectations. However, there will be a full English subtitle track on the disc as usual, so it's not like you won't be able to have subs at all.

Nothing, I think he was just showing that there is a separate English subtitle track on it for just the foreign dialogue, which there won't be on the Japanese 3D disc.

According to the trailer I`m pretty sure this will be a wonderful experience on Blu-ray 3D. I also like the slower, more thoughtful scenes and storytelling. This is where the 3D effects will shine.

Has there been any confirmation of imax scenes in this one? The 4k disc does NOT have them whereas Imax-enhanced is offered on Disney+….obviously, Black Widow had the imax scenes in the 3D version but that was before “imax-enhanced” launched on Disney+….so did I miss the confirmation or has there not been one yet?

We won’t have confirmation of IMAX scenes until someone gets a look at the backcover. MovieNEX releases with IMAX scenes include a blurb in Japanese specifying that the 3D Blu-ray has shifting aspect ratios.

The backcover of Black Widow uploaded to Amazon.co.jp about month before release, that’s how we confirmed. But Shang-Chi didn’t upload its backcover at all, so we didn’t have confirmation it didn’t have the IMAX aspect ratio until release day and someone had it in their hands and uploaded a photo. So we may not know what the IMAX situation is with Eternals until release day.
