Australian DVD which I bought years ago has this episode uncut (but with different opening song). The water-melon shooting scene should be included, but isn't in german cut version. It is present on the blu-ray though: https://www.schnittberichte.com/schn....php?ID=836208 Last edited by Gieferg; 01-05-2022 at 05:47 PM. |

So I finally got my big box set from Deutschland and it is fantastic. I had purchased/imported the first 4 seasons (PM me if you want 'em and I'll give you a good deal), for a small fortune and of course this set gets announced a few months later. I had planned on purchasing the remaining 5 seasons, but this way was much cheaper for me and I get Baywatch Hawaii as a bonus!
We saw a few unboxing videos, but I figured I would share some photos along with a mini-review. I am still working on getting all of them uploaded to the database on here. The outer box is quite sturdy and rigid and does not feel cheap or flimsy. The complete set is region free! NOTE** To be able to play the SD classic episodes (honestly the only way to watch the show as it is unedited with all original music and in the OAR), you will need a player that can do PAL/25FPS, otherwise you'll just get a black screen. OPPO does 25 FPS along with Integra players. I can verify that Panasonic does not do 25 either. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If you need any other info or additional photos, just let me know. Here is a bonus! I ended up networking with someone who worked on the show for its entire run. They sent me this patch which was sewn onto the iconic red bathing suits. I had to frame it. It's totally legit and that person even included their business card. Awesome piece of memorabilia. [Show spoiler]

Indeed. I did not have any
![]() I got them backwards-- because NTSC content is 24, whereas PAL is 25. I should have just said PAL to avoid confusion... ![]() To sum up: If your player cannot do PAL then you are SOL when it comes to watching the SD episodes. Not many players in North America can do PAL for obvious reasons. The good news is the set is still region free and has all 242 remastered episodes. They also do not have all the DNR applied as we got in the States with the VEI release. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Baywatch-Blu-ray/290218/ FYI: The VEI release does not include Baywatch Hawaii which makes the German set the best option for all fans/viewers. If you are not interested in the classic unedited episodes with the original music as it aired along with it being in the OAR, then it should not be a problem. If you do intend to watch the classic episodes, then you'll probably need to track down a cheap player. I just want those to be aware before someone imports the set intending to watch the classic episodes so they're not stuck with that black screen. |

It was $174 (USD) for me to import it to the states. Not sure if it will be cheaper for you since you're in Scotland. It has dropped a bit since I purchased it but not much.

It just had an awesome discount of 3% at az.de. Now back to normal.
I bought all 9 seasons at the 3 for 2 deal 2020 on az.de. I will sell them and hopefully get back to cover the complete set at sale price. I am watching season 8 and its much better compared to 7. New fresh characters and back to basic. Season 7 was all over the place. To bad Nancy Valen only made 22 episodes. Good ridance Pamela "LEE" |

So as some of you already know..I imported the big box set of Baywatch to the states from Amazon.de which was released in November.
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Baywatch-Blu-ray/301898/ The series was released individually before this, but had the new remastered cut which aired exclusively on Amazon Prime. It is now available to stream on Hulu as well. I originally only had to first 4 seasons which I purchased separately. I decided to just start from season 1 again even though I was anxious to start S5. I have encountered a few rather interesting things that I wanted to share and make others aware of. A little overview... My preferred viewing method is to watch the show in SD. Why watch it in SD? I grew up with the show and remembered many montages with certain music playing. The show had a tendency to use the music from that decade. The music has all been taken out with the remastered versions and replaced with rubbish. They even changed the ending theme music. Even songs sung by David Hasselhoff himself were replaced! Moreover, you get horrible edits and cropping with the remastered cuts. Obviously this was shot in 4:3, but we get the "Seinfeldian adjustment" to fit 16x9. Lastly, I enjoy the SD versions as it's pure nostalgia for me even though I agree the remastered does look 10x better. ![]() We get the original episodes in SD as they aired as a bonus feature, but they are in PAL, so make sure you have a player that can handle it. OPPO being your best bet. So, being that this release is from Germany...it is no surprise that the audio is defaulted to German. You have to select the English audio track. It also also important to note that this set does not include ANY subtitles- Not even in German. With my standalone release of Season 1, I encountered an error which I initially posted about here. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=222 It was first documented in this post. Quote:

![]() I got to episode 17: "Das Schiff der Verlierer" which translates to "Snake Eyes." and was about to select the HD version knowing that the SD one only has German audio. I decided to check anyway, and... Wellllll....it just so happens that it was quietly corrected! The ENGLISH track is back!! ![]() Coincidentally, this is also the episode where they edited out the speargun watermelon shooting. Someone posted a nice side by side comparison on Twitter so you can see what aired in place of it. https://twitter.com/RandomBaywatch/s...25655558541313 I ran into a new issue but it is present on both discs--I just hadn't noticed it the first time around. The episode "Der Messerstecher (One That Got Away), from season 2 has a rather annoying humming/buzzing sound in the first 20 minutes or so (you can even hear it in the initial credits), with the SD English track. It does not happen on the German audio track, or the remastered cut. I tried it in two different players and get the same sound. You may not hear it...I am told I have excellent hearing. Anyway...just wanted to update this for everyone. I am glad the missing audio track was fixed. I'll continue to update ya'll if I encounter any other abnormalities as I work my way through this massive box set. In the meantime, if anyone finds out why the hell they edited out the watermelon shooting scene, please let us know! ![]() Last edited by sfmarine; 02-05-2022 at 08:22 PM. |

That would be great to get additional confirmation whenever you have the time. If you have the correction as well then we know for sure that they corrected it for the box set. It's definitely unusual (not that I'm complaining), as it really is just a bonus SD episode. You would think they wouldn't care because the main selling point is the remastered content.

I wanted to share another interesting glitch with the box set (it also affects the individual S2 remastered release), that I discovered during my watch through. It is a case of one particular episode not being in the correct airing sequence in which it aired.
I was watching the Gilligan's Island episode titled "Now Sit Right Back and You'll Hear a Tale." ![]() This is actually a pretty fun episode if you are a fan of Gilligan's Island. The show was before my time, but I watched plenty of reruns as a kid... ![]() The episode aired on February 24th, 1992. It takes place during the second season and is episode # 16. In the German set, it is known as "Die Schiffbrüchigen" which translates to: The Shipwrecked. For whatever reason, this episode is out of airing order. The episode airs between "The Reunion" Ep # 12, and "War of Nerves" Ep # 13. It is supposed to be after "Sea of Flames" Ep #15. Note: This error occurs on both the SD episode and remastered. Even Amazon Prime and Hulu list Episode 16 correctly. Not sure why or how this happened. My only guess is that's how it aired originally in Germany. If anyone has any info on this, please let me know. I just wanted to make it aware for those who enjoy following along in the correct order. Nothing is spoiled though, and continuity remains intact, so at least we have that as Baywatch is self-contained for the most part. Cheers! |

The order of the episodes is all over the place on the German releases. Especially in Seasons 5 and 6. They are presented in the same order as they were shown on German TV back in the 90s. And German TV station Sat.1 did not care sh*t about any narrative cohesion.

This channel is the gift that keeps on giving!
For those who don't know...Allison has a very successful channel where she critiques all of the Baywatch episodes in a satirical and humorous way (we all know how silly and outrageous Baywatch is). She's up to season 7 and has even done Baywatch Nights. Her Baywatching series is a great companion piece if you plan on binging the show or want to hear her take on your favorite episode(s). |
