Seems like a big rip-off of High School of the Dead, but it does look decent. I'm just hoping for a big breasted sword girl

Watched episode 1. Can't imagine I'll sit through any more. It's been a while since I was at school, but are all bullies now psychotic rapists & murderers who can get away with whatever they want? It was thoroughly unpleasant to watch.
My only reason to watch any more of this would be to see if they all get viciously ripped to pieces while screaming for mercy. |

Loooooved this. It did feel dragged out a bit towards the final episodes (an entire episode is just the survivors in one location discussing their feelings) but it was tense as hell and I loved the two lead male characters.
Any chance this gets a blu release? lol doubt it. |

On the other hand, Korean media is much more mainstream now so I guess we could be surprised. Shows like Kingdom and Squid Game don't seem like Blu-rays are coming though, so I'll keep expectations nonexistent for now. |

If you go to Korean stores, they sell R1 DVDs of Korean shows, but you will not find a Blu-Ray of their dramas, cause their media industry doesn't widely support the format, outside of films and releases of foreign content. Sometimes, a notable series will get an expensive Special Edition Blu-Ray set for Korea/China/Japan/other Asian market, but it's very rare and they usually only do a single print run of them. Imagine paying 2006 Blu-Ray prices ($60 a disc) for a multi-disc TV show release (4-15 discs) and you get an idea of how expensive their domestic TV drama sets are. Even used, they fetch obscene prices.

I'm on Episode 10 now. Really like it so far. And yes, bullies these days have gotten worse and this show doesn't shy away from that hard truth. As a victim of bullying myself I can safely say that from my generation onwards it has gotten so much worse and I am 36. Kids these days are so vicious and there are so many more ways for them to make life a living hell for those they consider their targets. The first episode did upset me with the bullying depictions, but I am glad I have stuck it out. It is masterfully filmed. The sequences depicting the initial outbreak are all expertly crafted and edited for maximum impact. The zombies in this series really remind me of the Zekes from World War Z and I love that movie so... The atmosphere is palpable, the characters are likable (for the most part at least), and the setting is rather fresh IMO. Will probably finish it tonight.

Finished this up yesterday. I enjoyed it but they could have cut down on the teenage melodrama. I found myself just fast forwarding through those parts after a while. The show would have been about two episodes shorter if they limited that aspect of it.

So far I've found this show to be mildly entertaining but middling overall. It does feel like the slightly boring version of Train to Busan (which is name checked frequently in the series)
I'm halfway through and the high school stuff is pretty underwhelming. The kids moving from one classroom to another is starting to feel really repetitive. It's a high school right? There's so many options to introduce new elements and keep it fresh. There's the gym, track and/or football/soccer field, cafeteria, woodshop, garage, pool, science labs. (You get the idea) Why ignore all the interesting possibilities the setting offers and just go with non-descript classrooms. It does feel like this popularity of the show is partly because there's not a huge amount of competition out there. Jan/Feb tends to be pretty quiet. Another Netflix series Lupin debuted at the same time and had a lot of buzz that faded pretty quickly once the year got rolling. I suspect much the same here. |

There's also a K-series called Hellbound on Netflix from last year. Anyone seen it?
