Not out of the box. Your options are: i) applying an enhanced firmware update (which many forum members here advise against), ii) using a OneForAll remote that has a DVD button to input codes, or iii) buying a modified region free player.

I found the info on this page. Keep in mind that the poster is using a European model, so it may not be an apples-to-apples scenario, even though the model number is the same, so this will be a gamble on your part. If you do decide to order a remote, let us know if this hack works for you.

Yes but that does not make your player BD region free. You can take your Panny player to your local authorized Panny service center and they should make it region free(DVD)free of charge while you wait.

So a panasonic service would make it play just dvd's region free but not blu-ray?

Brain fart on my part. You're right: the hack covers DVDs, but not Blu-rays.

As for the other part: that's news to me. I wasn't aware that the service center was obligated to do anything, especially updating the region code setting.

I strongly wouldn't recommend it either, because it may cause technical malfunctions in the player's circuitry. It's best to leave it alone, and continue using it the way it was intended.

I went the cheapo-region free way, and bought a 78 dollar Seiki BD player from Wal-Mart Canada:

It converts PAL, which is even better.

I have a Panasonic DMP-BDT110 and it can play Region-B discs by doing a few different tricks. It won't play any PAL or 1080/50i content without modified firmware however. Here's the 3 methods that I've discovered so far:

Method 1 -

- Insert a disc and wait for the "Wrong Region" screen to appear
- Press the "Pop-Up Menu" button
- Disc should boot to the discs main menu or start playing the movie

Method 2 -

- Insert a disc and wait for the "Wrong Region" screen to appear
- Press Stop
- Press the "Pop-Up Menu" button (You may have to press this a few times)
- Disc should boot to the discs main menu or start playing the movie

Method 3 -

- Insert a disc and wait for the "Wrong Region" screen to appear
- Press Stop
- Press 1 and the number "1" should start blinking in the upper right corner. Press the "OK" button while 1 is blinking. You may have to try this a few times, as it usually doesn't work the first time. Try pressing OK on the first or second blink and it should work.
- Disc should boot to the discs main menu or start playing the movie

I can't make my own post so I'm just going to hijack this thread to ask a question:

"Say I have a 25GB Blu Ray, and I have a bunch of video files that only come to 15Gb's but are over 10 hours long. Why can't that be burned to a BluRay? Even with it not exceeding the disc space, why does it have a time limit? "

It doesn't appear to work on the German release of Gaspar Noe's Love. If you try the third method, it gets to the first trailer, but every time it tries to load anything else, it goes back to the region code error.

UPDATE: when I entered 019, it brought me to the actual movie. So, I tried 020, 021 and henceforth. Everything from 016-029 went to a different trailer or menu video; except for 022, which gave me the region code error. Everything from 029-240 goes to the same trailer.

It's a 3D Blu-ray, so I'm wondering if 022 is to the 3D version. I'm going through each 3-digit code, just to make sure I'm not missing out on the 3D version. At any rate, trying to enter 020 or others in that area may work to access different videos on the disc, for those who can't get the other options to work.

As I suspected, every other code led to the same trailer. I figure once you're after the last indexed item, all numbers beyond that just go to the highest number.

It's something though. If your region locked Blu-ray doesn't play with any of those methods, try three digits codes. I'd start with 001 and go from there.

I'm using the BDT220, but I think it works on all 2011 models.

So you actually got the movie to play in 2D with 019? I have the BDT220 and now the UB900 and tried it with both, (however, not 019 yet) and could only get the first trailer to work.

This is the only region-locked Blu-ray I own and was hoping since I had the Panasonic I could get it to work after hearing about the "hack" on Panny players. ... I will have to try it tonight to see if I can get the movie to play with 019. Thanks for the tip!

Yep. When you get to the region code error screen, just hit stop. Then 019. The 2D version will play.

I'm glad someone else can use this info! I was worried I was bumping a thread that nobody would care about lol

Haha thanks!

I had a friend over who didn't know about this movie, and he's another tech junky like I am. So I said I just wanted to test something I learned today on the forum (thanks to you) and sure enough it worked! I had forgotten about the fist scene in the movie is quite a shocker if you don't know what you're in for so we had a good laugh as it came on the screen hahaha

So I can confirm the same "hacks" work on the 4K Player, The UB900
But yeah, too bad the 3D can't work! It even says to put on your glasses at the beginning. What I might try is using the TVs 3D conversion and just turning it on anyway to see if it looks any good that way lol

Hi guys,

Are you able to help me identify if these hacks work with Paramount/CBS region A locked discs, for example the Dexter Complete Series. I have the UK Panasonic SA-BTT885 home theatre and am looking to get this set, but worry in case the hacks may not work.

Thanks in advance :-)
