The cheapest route for BD region free ability?
Go online (Ebay) and get a refurbished Insignia BD player. I got one for $31.00 and it's region free (DVD & BD) outta the box after entering a simple 4 digit code. (Insignia NS-BRDVD4 1080p HD Internet Connectable Blu-Ray Player) Ebay has several that start at $44.00 You may be able to find them cheaper elsewhere. |

I have a question on topic, at this point hypothetical! I am learning Japanese. Lots of reasons I want to do that. At some point suppose hypothetically I might go to Japan, maybe even for a long period. I have a large movie collection! Everything from American Movies, Japanese imports, and American releases on both Blu ray and DVD. The blu rays have no problem, we share Region A with Japan, but the difference in region tells me my DVDs won't work.
I am fortunate to have so much in the blu ray format, but there are a few DVDs that would cost a fortune to replace with the Japanese blu ray. My head tells me there must be a solution to the region code conflict for DVDs worth saving. These have not only been to the benefit of entertainment, but also helped to practice my Japanese. So my question in short: I already have a large collection, I have heard of region free players and voltage adapters, Does a player already region free need a voltage adapter. What exactly does someone need? Thanks! Last edited by KivaSeeker; 04-29-2014 at 07:48 PM. |

The best thing to do would be source a player in Japan that can be hacked (if they're not too expensive) just to watch your US DVDs there. I think there are a few members here that live in Japan but are from the US and they'd be able to give more in-depth advice. |

I'm trying to play a pal dvd in the Panasonic bdt220 bluray player and ,It just says "can not play" I do not get a menu choice so i can hit pop up video .Is it not working because it says PAL on it , How are other people getting the remote to change to region b ?

PAL =/= Region B. They're two separate things. This trick is strictly for bypassing the Region coding of a disc.
