Longtime Nintendo fan here. I've had the NES, SNES, N64, and Gamecube for years. After having them packed away for quite some time (years) I recently dug them out and started playing them again. I never got a Wii when it was released in 2006, so just recently, I bought one on eBay. Hey, it only took me 8-9 years. Haha!
Anyway, I currently only have six Wii games. Super Mario Galaxy Super Mario Galaxy 2 New Super Mario Bros. Wii Donkey Kong Country Returns The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword I think my next purchase will be Mario Kart Wii. I guess Super Mario Galaxy 3 is a lost cause? |

I've missed out on so much too. I really like all of the Zelda series games, have a lot of catching up to do on titles.

Well before this console slips away into extreme prices, I decided to take the plunge. I had an original white Wii but lost interest in it right before it started to get better games. The list below I thought warranted buying new.
Any game suggestions welcome! Especially any 1st party games you think are must haves!! ![]() I've seen a ton of used games around awhile ago & can't remember recent encounters of lots of used Wii games for sale. hmm.. Bought, Black Wii Console Black Wii Classic Controller Pro Black Wii Nunchuk Fosmon Wii Component A/V Cable Games, (First Releases) Super Mario Galaxy Super Mario Galaxy 2 The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Metroid Prime Trilogy - Collector's Edition Super Smash Bros. Brawl Donkey Kong Country Returns |

Wii U is 100% backward compatible with Wii, so I don't understand why you bought a Wii. Quote:
For example - a boy and his blob - a shadow's tale - Another Code R (Europe+JP only) - Battalion Wars 2 (first party) - Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise (first party) - Bit.Trip Complete - Boom Blox / Boom Blox Party - Bully (if you haven't played it yet on other consoles) - de Blob 1 + 2 (first one was Wii exclusive and imo better than the second one) - Dead Space: Extraction - Deadly Creatures - Disaster: Day Of Crisis (first party, Europe+JP only) - Endless Ocean 1 + 2 - Fragile Dreams - Ghostbusters (not the same game as on PS3+360, this went with comic style graphics, well made) - Go Vacation - GoldenEye 007 - Indiana Jones and the Fate Of Atlantis (comes in a case called Indiana Jones and Staff of Kings) - Kirby Epic Yarn - Klonoa (remake, exclusive to Wii) - Kororinpa 1+2 - Little King's Story - Metal Slug Anthology - Munchables (somewhat like Katamari) - New Play Control Pikmin 1+2 (first party) - No More Heroes 1+2 - Okami - Pandora's Tower - Prince Of Persia: Forgotten Sands (different game than on PS3+360, actually a really well made and great game with lots of content) - Project Zero 2 (EU+JP only) - Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition - Resident Evil REmake (classic survival horror) - Resident Evil 0 (classic survival horror) - Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (railshooter) - Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles (railshooter) - Scarface World is yours - Silent Hill: Shattered Memories - Sin and Punishment 2 - Super Paper Mario (first party) - The Last Story ("first" party, by creator of Final Fantasy) - Wario Land: Shake Dimension (first party) - WarioWare: Smooth Moves (first party) - Wii Sports Resort (first party) - Xenoblade Chronicles (first party, really expensive though, available for quite cheap on Wii U eShop, but not available in US eShop yet) - Zack & Wiki You can soft-mod the Wii and also Wii inside Wii U and then play those EU+JP games that way. ![]() I'll also only support physical Wii games unlike what I've done with Wii U & VC. Thanks for the game recommendations. A lot of titles there I never heard of. ![]() |

You got a Classic Controller Pro already? The one that will connect to a Wiimote. You need at least one of those. I mean you could play REmake + Xenoblade using Wiimote, but those play better using a Classic Controller Pro. A Xenoblade bundle even came with a red one. |

![]() Here I thought Nintendo lacked controllers. You'll have to be more specific as to what works best. ![]() I have these, Wiimote Wiimote Plus Classic Controller Classic Pro Controller Pro Controller Gamepad |

Well, we got Xenoblade in Europe on Wii U eShop. It's even playable using the Wii U gamepad that way. NoA will surely follow in some time.
It's 20 EUR only. Quote:
Pro controller + gamepad are Wii U. Pro controller works for Gamecube games on Wii U, but you need homebrew for that. Gamepad only works for some Wii games from the eShop. |

Mario Kart, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Galaxy are great starts. I downloaded a ton of old school games when I first got mine like 4 years ago. We have it but barely play it. It's a good system though...
I plan to set it up for my daughter when she gets a bit older, as well as give her my 360 since it has a ton of great games on it, and I'm moving on up to the One. |

Every single physical game. Every single digital game (WiiWare+Virtual Console). Even the Homebrew Channel works on Wii U. Back then there was a single WiiWare game, which had problems and you weren't able to transfer it. This was solved ages ago, so as I said - everything will work. |

Guess I'll use that extra cash to get some accessories. I don't have the adapter for GameCube controllers yet for Wii U. |

Right, the Gamecube controllers don't "work" of course like on Wii, because the controller ports are missing. Gamecube games also normally don't work, simply because the Wii U disc drive does not support the tiny Gamecube discs. But as I said - they do work using Homebrew after you ripped the disc images. |
