Sony called most green games company by Greenpeace

Do you love the earth? How about the PSP and PS3? Good, because your loves are one and the same. Sony is called the most green games manufacturer by environmental group Greenpeace. Sony scored an impressive 7.3 from the organization, making it the third most green company in the list. Compare that to Microsoft at 2.7 and Nintendo at a shocking 0. Sony fans certainly can be proud of their company's efforts to truly go green.

Sony has made a dramatic rise to 3rd position, moving up from the bottom in the fourth version of the guide and from 6th in the last edition.
This time the company has gained points for improving its reporting of the quantities of electronic waste it recycles.
The company receives a good score for providing many examples of products that are free from PVC plastic, including models of the VAIO
notebook, Walkman, camcorders and digital cameras. Sony has commitments to phase out PVC and BFRs by 2010. Sony’s takeback and
recycling programme has good coverage, particularly in the US, and the company provides clear information to its customers about what to
do with discarded products.

Read the article, it actually alot more to do with production policies than necessarily having a high turnover rate. Although they also address the return channel, which Microsoft was rated well on. Again just have to realize what the metrics mean [in this case, microsoft takes product back and attempts to refurbish in good gesture instead of just suggesting the customer take a sledgehammer to a bricked console].

Sony has been on top of this sort of thing for awhile...

in 2001 there was a toxic element called Cadmium found in the cables of the game controls and they immediately fixed the problem so that the entire system was safe for the environment...

green is the future....MS only shows that they care about money and greed....going green takes a lot of money and the kickback received for going green is received over time...

smart companies go green...greedy companies don't...

this is one of the biggest reasons to boycott MS....more than all the other bullshit that they surround themselves with...

and Nintendo being worse shocks me even more because they are a Japan based company....here in the states, ignorance on the green subject is expected.....but over in Japan...among the rest of the world, they are on top of this stuff....

...supposedly anyways..

that just means Nintendo is batting a thousand in the "not being green" dept.....

MS makes a whole bunch of different products and some of them may be somewhat eco-friendly....so they don't get the worst ranking...

I just explained this chart to you....and you got mad because there was MS bashing...

Philips makes more stuff than Nintendo as well...

they do the chart by percentage and if Nintendo makes GC/Wii/DS etc and all 3 of these products are not eco friendly....then they are 3 for 3 at sucking in this dept....

I don't know why you got your feathers all ruffled because I broke it down to you....

I don't care either way about MS....but the fact that they are a major company in the world and they are a major company on wall street in regards to trading and etc....they should be more aware of this than little old Nintendo....which I don't care about either..

I am just explaining to you why MS is an ******* for being this low....even more-so than Philips or Nintendo...
