Sometimes I feel that 120Hz panels suffer of worse motion handling due to the content being mostly in 24fps. If content was mostly 60fps or 120fps those motion issues would be obliterated. |

No thanks to film-based content being shot in anything higher than 24fps.
While there will always be inherent motion/judder issues in low framerate content, the reason it's exacerbated on panels like current LCD and OLED models, is because both of those technologies use 'sample and hold', as opposed to the impulse-based motion tech that plasmas and CRTs used. As for BFI (black frame insertion), if used correctly, yes, it can absolutely be a great thing for sample and hold displays, as it's basically the same method that plasmas used. And, in theory, one would think if the 2018 LG OLED models can do 120hz across the board, if they really did their due diligence with implementing BFI correctly, one would think they could present 24p content at 96hz. I guess we'll have to wait and see. But if nothing else, with BFI being used, motion resolution should be greatly improved on the 2018 sets. |

Thought I'd ask before I give it a try.
I have a few region locked bl-ray disc that will still need to be played through my region free 1080p player. My LG UHD player isn't BD region free. So my question is how good is the LG TV in regards to upconverting a 1080p image feed? I played the region free Remastered Terminator Blu disc on the UHD player and it looked great. Just wondering. Thanks anybody. ![]() |

Has anyone experience image retention problems with select movies? I was watching Heat last night and in almost every single darker scene (of which there are a lot) I could see the image still on the screen when the camera changed.
This is the only movie I’ve experienced it with though. I’ve probably watched over twenty UHDs and over twenty BDs on it so far and never experienced any retention issues up until now with this particular movie. |

You can use original which will display how the movie was framed (with side etc cut off). Some like 16:9 which will display those older movies all the way across with out sides cropped etc so it depends on your preference. The main thing is that you are using just scan option.

It affected me while I was using internal apps. But ever since I switched to Roku Ultra 4K UHD I completely turned Simplink off and never use any of the built-in apps anymore.

Yes, I have met him at the VE shootouts when Robert held them in store (the last two he held in store actually which was one at the old location and the other was at the new location). He remembered who I am when I e-mailed him.
