This is an issue with every kind of tv that isn't a plasma. The motion is improved with each new year's model but you're going to deal with some slight judder no matter what you get.

Robert, obvious pricing differences aside, would you say that the CX shows enough improvements to edge out the C9? And/or more improvements/features coming via updates later (future proofing)? Or are the difference too small/subtle negate any C9 closeout deals that might be tempting?

Thank you. So, I have learned that motion resolution on an OLED is only 300-600 lines, versus 800 on a plasma. First of all, what it motion resolution, and why is it so friggin' low?

@WKoA13, hard to say as I was only able to see and work with the CX at LG's off site engineering suite at CES. They were prototypes and I did not have the CX along side of the C9 or have any test patterns to play on the CX.

With all that said the CX delivered gorgeous images and my LG engineer mate spoke very positively about the advancements in the new Gen 3 video processor. Specifically he said the Gen 3 processor will deliver better motion resolution and cleaner up-conversion of low resolution content, like cable. Another upgrade for 2020 is that we now have selectable Black Frame Insertion, so you can set BFI to off, low, medium or high. I tested the available BFI settings and liked low best as it visibly improved motion with no noticeable loss of luminance.

Other enhancements are all related to gaming, like G-SYNC Compatible, FreeSync, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), HGiG and the expected input lag will be 5ms.

When you upgrade to the GX series you also get ATSC 3.0 tuner, significantly better built-in audio system and a very minimalist modern slim profile with built-in wall mount that holds the TV flush to the wall.

An opportunity has presented itself to me for a used 55' B7 for under $500. Part of me wants to pull the trigger as it's in really good shape and I have the money but another part of me wants to continue saving until later this year and go with a newer model 65' OLED to further future proof myself.

WOW....what a great presentation in 4K of the game on the Firestick FOXSports app. I did a little tweaking of toning down the color and it was fantastic. No lag or judder, just the best sports presentation in 4K I have seen to date. I heard it was available on channel 1498 on Fios if you have the new 4K boxes and router. Viewers say it was great there too.

I have the Disney WOW calibration disc for BD/SDR, but no idea how to tackle HDR and Dolby Vision. Will probably get the Munsil...UHD calibration disc down the line?
Is the isf dark the most accurate out of the box for SDR, and cinema for HDR?
I am going to watch Vincent's HDTV videos on the C9 again.

One of the best things about it is the passive 3D (with no loss in resolution because of the 4K upscaling). Any recommendations about where to start with some of the best 3D titles? I own almost every major 3D film produced (am just missing a few high profile ones) so I have plenty to choose from but wouldn’t mind getting suggestions.

4K content also looks stunning with amazing clarity and detail. Rich colors and inky deep black levels.

I heard you can't go wrong with Avengers End Game as it has strong 3D. Of course Avatar is also very good. Congrats on the E6.

I have an LG OLED C9 and I still notice severe stutter or judder on panning shots. It’s especially noticeable on Scarface and Hereditary. I’ve checked for updates and the TV is up to date. I’m using real cinema as well, but there doesn’t seem to be any difference unless I use tru motion, which cause the soap opera effect. Does anyone have any suggestions on settings I could try? Thanks.

Use TruMotion but ONLY for deblur. Put it at deblur 10. This increases motion resolution without soap opera effect. If you put dejudder on (even at the lowest setting) that is what causes SOA in the TruMotion settings.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually have used that guide before when seeing 3D films theatrically.

I agree that native 3D is better overall (and I prefer certain native 3D cameras over others - the tech used for filming Avatar, Hugo, and Tron: Legacy is still the absolute best, in my opinion) but conversions are radically better than they were when RealD 3D releases started coming out.

I’ve already watched some 3D films that were conversions and these presentations can be impressive as well (when the 3D is implemented properly).

I’ve noticed that for HDR, black levels seem to be grayish with the default of 50 for brightness. Does anyone have a recommendation of what to set it to? I have an LG OLED C9.
