It definitely takes some time (more so) than I thought to stack up hours onto the TV. I watched a guy on YouTube explain how he got his LG fixed from burn in & he said he watches around 9000 hours a year. I watch mine everyday 10-12 hours average. I am looking at around 4000 hours a year so I now doubt this guys (YouTube) take on his personal usage of hours/year claim unless he actually watches 20 hours/day. lol |

About TPC, i never disabled it. Can this cause burn-in problem? Do you suggest to disable it for good or just in specific cases? |

UTT = total power on time. JB(C) = total Mini Pixel Refreshers JB(T) = total Major Pixel Refreshers The 1003/5228 refers to the amount of times the “Mini” Pixel Refresher (the automatic one) has run. So at 5228 hours, the TV has run this process 1003 times. The “Major” Pixel Refresher is run at every 2000 hours of use. So 2/4000 means that it has performed this 2 times total. The next one you will get should be when you reach 6000 hours. (Edit), I suggest leaving it off. There is a button on the Service Remote that if pressed will kill your TV for good. So I wouldn’t recommend playing around with it. |

The only thing TPC does is dim the entire screen when it detects whatever is on-screen is idle. It’s like a screen saver function which most stream boxes, BD players, & game consoles have already built in. |

No problemo.
I almost got an LG C9 back when that came out. Kinda shocked LG didn’t make the sub Pixel structure of red better before 2018. These displays were by no means cheap back then. Only difference between our TVs, is my C1 has the EVO Panel which basically means deuterium instead of pure hydrogen. So longevity maybe better on EVO but it’s not proven to be outside of lab test environments. |

My apple TV 4k Siri remote suddenly stopped controlling the volume of my C7. When I'm watching Netflix, youtube, etc., I used to be able to control the TV's volume with the apple remote. Not sure what happened though.
I have tried going through the setup in the Apple TV menus, learn new device/remote etc. I think at that point it wants you to use the LG remote to push and hold the volume up. Nothing happens though. I saw my daughter/wife accept an agreement the other day. I assume an update occurred, and that screwed things up. Any ideas on how to get the Apple TV 4k Siri remote working again to control the TV's volume (in Apple TV apps)? thanks |

I had full control of my Apple TV4K with LG remote before getting an Xbox SX. As soon as I connected the HDMI port for the SX, I lost control for my Apple TV4K. My idea is this, Unplug the Apple TV HDMI cable from the TV. Wait a few seconds. Plug it back into the TV. I’m thinking the last device hooked up to the TV with HDMI gets priority. I of course could be wrong. Worth a try though. |

I did try that…nothing. What’s weird is that if I hold the power button down on the Apple TV remote, it turns off the Apple TV box AND my TV. When I try to use the apple remote to control the volume, I can see the tiny light blink as I am pressing volume up or down. So something is communicating, but something obviously is wrong since volume control has always worked until a week ago. |

I thought you were trying to control your Apple TV with your LG Remote, not the other way around. ![]() |

Another weird thing: the old black non-Siri remote that originally came with that Apple 4k TV does control the volume, but no other functions. The newer silver Siri remote is the exact opposite- it controls everything BUT the volume! Last edited by maverick22; 08-27-2022 at 03:12 PM. |

1)Press and hold the TV/Control Center button (looks like a tv screen) and the Volume Down button at the same time. Hold the buttons down for about 5 seconds, or until the status light on Apple TV turns off then turns on again. 2)Release the buttons, then wait 5–10 seconds. A Connection Lost notification will appear on your TV screen. 3)After your remote restarts, a Connected notification will appear on the tv screen. Volume should now work normally. |

My OLED crapped out on me and I had the red blinking light with a black screen. So I took my chances and ordered a used main board from a place online. They only had 1 board left.
TV is back which is awesome! Only problem is it's all out of spec and calibration now. I popped in Lawrence of Arabia and it looked way too dull in Dolby Vision. Bumped up the color to 80 which is probably too high, but it looks a helluva lot better! I forgot how bad the burn in was, but just glad to have my OLED back at this point. |

Just wanted to let you guys know a couple of updates with my LG C9.
1) It finally decided to do the 2nd big Pixel Refresher Cycle. It took about 100 more hours or so after hitting 4,000 usage hours to give me the message, so it's not always exactly 2,000 hours of usage. 2) I finally got around to getting my parents Logitech Harmony Remote and used it to go into the service menu and deactivate the TPC option and it was a success. The TV does not dim down anymore, especially in Hawkeye Episode 5! Only thing that I still wonder about is that if TPC was activated at the time of calibration, would that have harmed it in anyway, especially when the calibration would get down to the 10%-30% windows?? Just curious! But I'm happy now. My TV is truly set and I can finally turn "On" Dolby Vision on my Panasonic 820. I kept it off because of the TPC issue but now I will leave it on for good! For those who are on this fence with going into the service menu, it's easy to do. As long as you stay out of everything else that the Service Menu shows, then you should be good. Took me 10 seconds and it was done. Simple as that! But it was a complete success!! ![]() |

Harmed, no. Compromised the calibration, possibly. Some of the calibration software has a feature that results in measurements being paused while a different test pattern is displayed at periodic intervals in order to reset the TPC/ASBL dimming timer before the dimming starts. If that feature wasn't used and a pattern was left up too long while taking measurements, any measurements taken after dimming started would have been compromised. The software I use recommends a pattern of 25% gray every 45 seconds, displayed for 5 seconds for SDR, and 25% gray every 5 seconds, displayed for 5 seconds for HDR/DV in order to keep TPC/ASBL from dimming during measurements.
