So Scalpel is going to have two different color grades to pick from.

I honestly prefer Arrow's own color grading. The DP's color grading is a bit too muddy IMO.

Arrow has made Robert Altman's Vincent and Theo available for streaming in the US. This was previously released on blu in a now OOP release from Olive Films. Olive licensed it from MGM. The Arrow stream credits the film to "Hemdale Pictures"; which is the same company that produced Altman's Images.

Looks like MGM lost the rights to a bunch of Hemdale productions and that they were picked up by Arrow.

More Altman! Great!

The original Terminator was produced by Hemdale. Fingers crossed

An Arrow Video release of The Terminator...would be utterly cosmic.

I can see them giving it a deal similar to The Thing (a slipbox/booklet LE, a steelbook LE and a normal release).

A landmark film like this needs a fancy CE. MGM treated the film well with a fully loaded DVD a few years ago but it's time for an upgrade. I hate when important films are relegated to generic plain-vanilla releases as all current editions are; Arrow could do wonders with it.

A release like The Apartment LE set would be epic and I buy it with no questions asked.

Terminator seems unlikely since there's already a remastered/restored version out there. The only thing Arrow (or Shout) could do is add extras, which is sorely lacking on the MGM release.

Maybe Terminator is one of the films Arrow alluded to when they suggested they picked up a couple of big titles.

I'm still hoping it's somehow Dawn of the Dead

Either Arrow or Criterion doing Dawn of the Dead would be incredible.

...uhhh, you forgot about the possibility of Arrow including a lossless version of the original mono mix, which would be enough for me to upgrade.

Restoring the original mono. Which would be HUGE!

Yeah, you're right that'd be another selling point.

Looks like Kino no longer has the rights to Seijun Suzuki's Detective Bureau 2-3: Go to Hell Bastards! which makes me hope we are getting this in US soon enough on Blu.

What is really weird is that Arrow is going to stream this in the UK, but no physical release. Not sure what the deal is.

UK folks would be mighty pissed if the US got an exclusive release of it from them. I'll take it though

Didn't MisterLime say that Terminator and Robocop were two titles MGM were unwilling to licence out? I know things change, but I can't see MGM changing their stance or losing the rights to these.

One of these big titles alluded to by Simeoni is almost certainly Halloween (if Calum Waddell is to be believed), which could well be a UK-only release.

The assumption is that MGM lost the rights to the Hemdale catalog and that’s how a Terminator release might be possible.

Is there any suggestion they've lost the rights to everything Hemdale? There's quite a few films there. Could it not just be the Altman ones?

Vincent and Theo is still listed on Olive's site and available on several retailers. Was it confirmed to be OOP? Also, what about Olive's other Hemdale/MGM titles (Best Seller, Special Effects, Chattahoochee, etc)?

Hemdale went into bankruptcy in 1995 and it's library was sold to Consortium de Realisation. In 1997, the library was sold to Polygram. MGM purchased Polygram's movie library in 1998.

Haha. I just hope we get a physical release. Hope YOUTH OF THE BEAST gets a release at some point as well.
