I voiced my concerns on their post on Facebook and they deleted my comment. I wasn't even rude. I was still considering buying this, despite the fact I have 2 copies of the film on BD and the color timing still not up to snuff, but after that act of pettiness, forget it.

Best case scenario: I'll have great-looking versions of both the Extended and Theatrical cuts.
Worst case scenario: I'll still have my great-looking MGM "yellow" Blu-ray and I'll also have a presentable Theatrical Cut at long last.

Either way, it's all good.

I made a lossless mono track (from LD PCM of the theatrical version) but the extended scenes are from the lossy DD 192.

Didn't negative photos show it has some yellow tint to it though? Just not as severe as the MGM master? That's what I remember seeing anyway. People seem to want them to kill all the yellow period, but that might not be accurate.

I did, I just wrote my response weird, sorry. I just meant to add my support to the idea that Kino striking a middle-ground seems like the way to go.

Even if this release still had the awful yellow coated nightmare, I'd still pick it up just so I never had to watch the horrible, horrible Extended cut ever again.

Perhaps Kino haven't finished with the regrading and are just updating us as to what they're doing? The pee stain reduction is already an improvement, but I'd like less teal, too. I think Mifune's caps look spot on. I'm sure most of us will buy the disc even if Kino are done, but given the effort already put in it would a bit of a shame to stop there.

You make a good point, perhaps they arent finished yet
Also, sometimes it can be hard for me to picture how a shot should look overall as their "before/after" pics take one shot and split it in half. This is difficult if there are 2 people in the frame for example.

Thank you very much
They've already reached out to MisterLime and KL. No response.

I agree with others that this is a small step in the right direction but that's setting the bar really low for such an amazing film that deserves so much better.

If they've just heard people say "It's too yellow", so they've altered it to be 'a bit less yellow', that's hardly cause for any rejoicing at all.

The MGM is either right or it's wrong. If it's right, then Kino are wrong to change it. If the MGM is wrong, then just deciding to 'make it a bit less yellow' is just as likely to be wrong.
There are several vintage IB tech prints in collectors' hands that have been inspected over the past few years and there's no doubt about the fact that the MGM 4K is wrong. Those fans have reached out to KL to share this information so that they can correctly regrade the master but no response. There is no need for KL to guesstimate the correct colors at this point. All the work has already been done by the fans.

For all you know they have their own IB Tech print, or access to one. No response from KL doesn't mean they are doing the wrong thing. I for one am grateful for what they are doing - sparing us from the yellow extended monstrosity

For the 100th time, no, they didn't.

And an original IB tech print go TGTBTU played for 3 nights in Los Angeles, and there was no yellow or teal present in the original prints. It was never there.

Why not come out and say it then? Even their correction attempt is wrong. It's excessively green. They can still fix it though. Like I said before the bar has been set so low for such a deserving film that people like you are grateful at any attempt to correct the botched MGM 4K "monstrosity".

Well. what we've seen so far doesn't look very good. I know they can only do so much.

They must be working from an IB Tech print, because guesstimation is a joke.
