Saw Top Gun: Maverick Thursday....it surpassed all the M:I films to go along (in my opinion) with Edge of Tomorrow has his two best films.
SO for me: Edge of Tomorrow is number 1. Top Gun: Maverick 2. Solid films, great writing and acting.........overall a blast to have in a blu ray collection (well...soon Top Gun 2 will be) ![]() |

Oblivion wow, yes that one was good also. Amoung his best, and underrated. And yup so was Last Samuria, great. I wonder what everyone's fav. M:I is rather then starting a new thread. For me it was Rogue Nation, tho Fallout too. Dead Reckoning looks to be his overall best film tho, the action, stunts, actors,etc...I mean I never thought I'd see Hayley Atwell in a big budget film that is actually good(tho she's a great/was a great Agent Carter), now's her time.

He's done a pile of fantastic movies across a lot genres. Top Gun, Risky Business, The Color of Money, Jerry Maguire, A Few Good Men, Rain Man, Taps are all amazing movies in my eyes and used to get repeated views from me.
I'm not sure I could stack rank his movies, but I know things would have moved around for me over the years. Right now, I'd probably put Edge of Tomorrow pretty darn near the top. All of those other movies I've mentioned have fallen out of rotation for me and the only one that gets repeated views, almost annually, is Edge of Tomorrow. I don't re-watch too much, but that one hits all the right notes for me, can't wait for the 4K of it! I haven't seen the new Top Gun but really look forward to my first viewing when it is released on 4K. Edit: Lol... totally missed "the last 20 years" part of the thread. Oops. No brainer then, Edge of Tomorrow. Last edited by roar; 06-07-2022 at 08:00 PM. |

I was going to say Vanilla Sky, but... it's more than 20 years old! Good grief. Although I think I'd have liked it better had the events of the story happened to Jason Lee's character and Cruise played the supporting role of his wealthy, lucky friend.

He sure knows how to bounce back. I was kind of worried his career was going to tank after Travolta sunk his again with Battlefield Earth. Around 2005, Cruise was getting a little too pushy with his personal views and private life, and had some pretty bad pr at the time. But his film career remained pretty steady. And obviously now he's as popular as ever with Maverick. Minority Report was pretty solid and no one's mentioned it yet. Perhaps it + Maverick.
